Compassionate approach with difficult people {Christine Dixon}

In life, it is impossible to avoid difficult people. We all know people who are considered difficult and sometimes we are forced to interact with them on a daily basis. It might be a boss, coworker, in-law or family member. It might even be a spouse. Regardless, we must find effective ways to deal with difficult people.

As a psychologist, I spend countless hours coaching my clients how to effectively deal with difficult people. This article represents the framework I use to help my clients transform their discomfort, frustration, anger or guilt into the calm and clarity that only comes from harnessing the power of compassion.

Practicing Self-Compassion When You Have a Mental Illness

Self-compassion is an essential part of “wellness, psychologically, relationally, physically and even spiritually,” said Joyce Marter, LCPC, a therapist and owner of Urban Balance, a counseling practice in the Chicago area.

It also helps us confront hardships, and make beneficial changes in our lives. Self-compassion “allows us to engage our brain and body’s basic soothing system,” said Dennis Tirch, Ph.D, a psychologist and director of The Center for Mindfulness and Compassion Focused Therapy.

By supporting ourselves, we create “a secure base” to deal with challenges. “As a result, cultivating self-compassion can help us to have the motivation and the courage to engage in behavioral changes, leading us to live bigger lives, and move towards what matters to us.”

Unfortunately, many people — especially those with mental illness — can sometimes be particularly hard on themselves.

I'm sure you've heard "choose love not fear" before. You'll find it within just about any spiritual path you explore.

Intuitively, we KNOW we will be far happier if we follow it. However, when we are in the thick of things in our daily lives, it sometimes feels impossible to do.

Therefore, I want to share a "bridge" that I've discovered to help you choose love (and therefore, happiness).

But first ...

Choose Love Not Fear And Discover You ARE Love

There were times in my life when I'd hear someone say something like "Happiness is a choice" or "Just be happy" and all I felt was annoyed.

I couldn't find a path that went from the misery I was feeling to anything resembling happiness. It all seemed quite foggy.

I also felt guilty, afraid I was doing something wrong, but I just didn't know HOW to be happy.

All the best!

Your guardian angel loves you unconditionally and knows you to be wonderful, to be perfect and to be innocent. Your guardian angel wants to help you to reconnect with your innocence because it will make your own life happier and easier and also because if we all reconnected with this innocence, our world would be a much better place. If we all recognised the innocence in everyone else in the world there would be no war or killing. There would be much less hunger and injustice. We would have a much more peaceful world. I am not talking about naivety; rather, I am talking about a pure innocence that allows us to see the good in ourselves and in others. I am not talking about immaturity, rather a maturity that is deepened by the awareness of the innocence of everyone. The more we understand our own and one another's innocence, the more we grow and the better people we will become.

Cannot recall where in cyberspace that came from ...

Try - guardian angel loves you unconditionally? -

We are all spiritual beings having a temporary human experience to learn and to grow on a soul level. We come from the Divine Loving Presence and will return there one day. A part of us remembers this presence and yearns for it in our lives on earth.

We catch glimpses of unconditional love in our connections with others but then it is sometimes eclipsed by fear and ego. Fear is the opposite of love and causes people to act unlovingly. The ego makes you feel as if you are separated from and in competition with others, gearing you up for war more than love.

A Most Difficult Lesson: People Are Just Doing Their Best

The maddening fact for those of us who skew to the hyper-logical side of the spectrum is that in 99.9 percent of cases, you’ll never know what that something is. In fact, no matter how well you know someone, the best you can do in terms of understanding his or her motives, subconscious thoughts and emotions driving behavior is an educated guess.

However, I knew my dad as well as he allowed anyone to, and I was very familiar with his personal history, so I had a pretty good idea what those somethings holding him back were.

He grew up in an abusive household, and his dad eventually abandoned his mom and him. He was poor. He lived in a tough inner-city neighborhood and was bullied terribly as a child.

His mom was a cold and distrustful woman with few if any friends and estranged from almost her entire family. She relentlessly hounded him about his every dollar of expense.

Not surprisingly, he carried the pain of this upbringing with him throughout his whole life, and he had no example of what good parenting looked like.

Tiny Self-Care Ideas for the Soul

1. Imagine you’re your best friend. If you were, what would you tell yourself right now? Look in the mirror and say it.

2. Use your commute for a “Beauty Scavenger Hunt.” Find five unexpected beautiful things on your way to work.

3. Help someone. Carry a bag, open a door, or pick up an extra carton of milk for a neighbor.

4. Check in with your emotions. Sit quietly and just name without judgment what you’re feeling.

5. Write out your thoughts. Go for fifteen minutes on anything bothering you. Then let it go as you burn or bin the paper.

Quite a few -

You don't want to block your thoughts, emotions, and so on; nor do you want to chase after them. If you chase after them, if you let them lead you, they begin to define you, and you lose your ability to respond openly and spontaneously in the present moment. On the other hand, if you attempt to block your thoughts, your mind can become quite tight and small.

Awakening

For example -

Greetings, I AM Mary, Universal Mother, Divine Mother, Mother of One, Mother of all. And yes, I step forward first, this day and every day, to embrace you sweet angels of light, sweet angels of change, sweet angels of love, who, with the clearest intention, with the purest of hearts have said yes to me. That you would come and you would work with mighty GiAnna, (1) and all the kingdoms, and all your star family, to create and recreate, and re-anchor, and then anchor again a planet of love, a planet of play.

Moving from fear to Love is what your awakening process is all about.

As the coronavirus continues to spread globally and the number of consequential deaths reported increases daily there is much fear and anxiety being experienced. However, although it is proving to be extremely virulent in a very small percentage of cases, for most people who actually become infected the illness will be experienced with only minor unpleasant effects. So do not dwell on the endless flow of alarming outcomes that many are suggesting may occur. Doing that weakens your own energy field which is then unable to provide for your immune system as effectively as it normally does. Let go of fear and anxiety and allow Love to empower you during this period of uncertainty, as It will if you surrender to It. You are all precisely where you are meant to be at this point in the collective awakening process, so do not try to second-guess any irreversible choices you may have already made to help you to deal with what is arising for you now.
