No. You can teach a child various religions as an education tool, but the child would be confused if the mother is christian and she taught Hindu and Pagan were the correct religions as well as christian.

What are you basing this on? This has not been my experience.

My exes are Christian. Neither of my daughters were confused. Would like my daughter to confirm this with you?

Not in the least. Two of my own kids chose to go to church without direction from hubby or I.

They have both since chosen to leave the church for different reasons again without direction from hubby or i.

Their choice...

The youngest has no inclination to even try.
Looks like remaining mum is paying dividends

I think the words were, "Non-Catholics go to Hell." How would you interpret that?

I had a junior school teacher who gave us pretty much exactly that message, something similar anyway.

Vowed I would never send my kids to a Catholic school as a result. We did though, and they don't teach that anymore. I think there may be laws in the UK now that prevent that sort of indoctrination in schools; though obviously not in the home.

My parents are practising Catholics, but my dad, who loves all things Japanese including Judo and Karate, has an interest in Buddhism. So there were Buddhas as well as Sacred Hearts and Virgin Mary's in the house I grew up in. I'm pretty comfortable around all religious art now, including some of the weirder Catholic stuff (Catholicism is choc full of pagan iconography, as are some schools of Buddhism).

Do you think kids should be introduced to spirituality and/or religion?
Yes. First, it is important for them to understand something about what different sorts of religion people follow. This will help them avoid being ignorant and bigoted later on. Second, it is important for them to understand their own culture - and just about every culture has a fairly strong religious component embedded in it. Third, teaching them some religious ideas may appeal to them later on in life. My impression is that in today's world it can be quite hard to get an idea of what religions offer if you have not been brought up with them. But on no account should a parent or a school try to force religion on a child that does not want it. That is a recipe for lifelong antagonism.

I disagree. Spirituality is essential for good health. Religion is the way in which spirituality is apprehended.

Your opinion is noted and compared to real life then rejected as opinion

FYI, the millions and millions of non spiritual people are not.. thats NOT unhealthy

Any major religions you would exclude from your list of introductions to said child?

I wouldn't introduce them to any unless they asked.

But there is a rider...

Each year we held a different mid winter celebration from around the world and through history. As the kids became more aware they chose the theme.

For the last 3 years we have held Saturnalia, reason being they get more presents.

Do you think kids should be introduced to spirituality and/or religion?

I think children should learn about the beliefs of their parents, and participate with them in their spirituality if they choose to, but should also be exposed to differing religious viewpoints.

Lucky that me and my wife share different views, so we approach Spirituality from similar, but not identical angles.

You will note that i have edited my post. So you say non spiritual people are unhealthily... Careful how you answerer that
Everyone has a spiritual aspect. They may have differing nomenclature and understanding, but whether you call it “spirituality” or “emotional well-being,” or “self-care,” it’s all the same. And those who don’t care for themselves holistically are not as healthy as those who do.
