We hear constantlly from this administration that everyone should be vaccinated against Covid.
Yet we continue to see Biden wearing a mask outdoors when the CDC says it is not necessary.
Given that, is Biden sending the wrong message? Basically saying even if you are vaccinated you are not safe.
I was always thought that a leader should set the example.

Then again maybe he thinks he won the election because he wasn't seen; therefor wearing a mask will help him politically.
Wait - are you complaining about when Biden wears a mask while walking from his office (where masks are required) to his helicopter (where masks are also required)?

Yeah. I saw them holding picket signs and things of that nature. Where did the word covidiot come from anyhow?
The nutcase fringe, including Jeremy Corbyn's brother, who is barking mad.

I read recently that vaccine take-up among the over 60s in the UK has been >90%

These fools have no traction at all.

Good grief, the right are getting desperate.
I have had the jab - but I still wear a mask, it give OTHER people comfort - mask are not great but in these daft times I am very happy to wear one.

He is setting a great example. Unlike his predecessor

I do the same - and for the same reasons as you.

But we are in the UK, where "hands, face, space" is still the mantra, whether you have been vaccinated or not, presumably for these reasons. Also, we do not yet know how effective the vaccines are are preventing symptomless transmission - though it looks increasingly as though they do reduce it dramatically.

I am not familiar with the ins and outs of the guidance given by the US CDC. But isn't it funny how these rightwingers in the US continue to obsess about mask-wearing, when it costs them next to nothing to do and makes everyone that bit safer? Just searching for any dividing line, however trivial, to identify and attack political opponents. Quite childish really.

Poll results always show how far off the mark the people on the right are. Most Americans don't have extremist viewpoints like the radical right does.
The radicals are just a LOUD minority, ignore them.

Biden has stated that everyone should get vaccinated. So I don't think it's fair to say that Biden is sending the "wrong" message. I think it's fair to say that by continuing to wear a mask, Biden conveys the message that vaccines are not effective.

I don't expect Biden will stop wearing a mask anytime soon regardless of how effective studies indicate that vaccines are, because I don't believe Biden is motivated by scientific studies in his decision to wear a mask.

He's probably sending the message don't stop wearing a mask "just yet" till everyone gets vaccinated. People get vaccinated and think they're superman. The example is fair.

I find it completely baffling as to why so many people get their panties in such a twist, simply because other people choose to behave in a different manner. Why does it bother them so much that another person has made a personal decision to keep wearing a face mask? I may decide to keep wearing a mask even after the pandemic is over, just because I haven't had a single cold or case of the flu since I started wearing one. If anyone decides to get butt-hurt because of it, too bad.

And, by the way, that is a RW talking point, to question if vaccines work because people are still wearing masks.

I think its the butt hurt folks who wear one that are the loudest over those who don't.

Yep. We are a nation full of butts.

Combining Covid-19 and idiot.
The Spanish version is pandejo, combining the words pandemia (pandemic) and pendejo (idiot).

Who came up with putting those terms together not what the words mean their linguistic properties.

Just some random person said it online and it spread?
Someone on the media or so have you?

Seems common now and people just calling people covidiot idiots all over the place. Interesting how insulting words spread like wildfire and people just use them as if they were a normal word and justified (how so?) to use it.

People come up with new words every now and then, and word trends and usages come and go all the time.
And when you have people refusing to accept the facts and pretend it's all about "me" and act in ways that have consequences for other people, feeling anger is normal. Nearly 580,000 people in America alone have died from covid, many of them who refused to believe this is a thing and refused to take it seriously. And their recklessness and selfishness put everyone around them in danger.

It's a sad testament to Biden's blandness that so far, no conservative seems to have been able to come up with an innovative new conspiracy theory about him, akin to the Obama presidency's Birthers.

Why do you keep saying people are refusing to accept the facts?

People read the facts and come up with decisions based on those facts. Those decisions may be in conflict with another person's decisions, and that's okay. No one is dumb for making opposing decisions when both decisions are based on the same source and accepted by both parties.

A person not taking the vaccine in and of itself does not mean he or she are refusing the facts.

There's no need for any pro-vaccine person to call anti-vaccine people idiots based on "they didn't read the facts." That's a total generalization.

Unless you guys were testing each other on a knowledge quiz, that reason is totally inappropriate when applied to the population who do not want to take the vaccine.

Maybe he's just trying to show that the more everybody tries to do the things that will help mitigate the sread of the virus, the faster the country can get back to normal.

Just because it is less risky to not wear a mask outside, less risky is not the same thing as NOT risky. I think that he is showing extraordinarly good judgement.

Jesus Christ, let's settle this.
The reason the President wears a mask is "optics." Does anyone here understand politics or psychology?
Biden views the gesture as showing the public he's still committed to tackling the problem. Thanks to the right, we have over 500k dead.
