Why is it so important for you to claim your belief is the only true belief?

Yeah, the spirit of man has to be crushed. Man should be nothing more than a slave. Times have changed, Thief. Many hate the idea of being slaves.
I know of one such fellow

and he said......better to rule in hell
than to serve in heaven

Sitting here early morning pondering about posts in RF i been reading lately, where people claim that their religious belief is the only correct, and everyone else is fake or falls or even evil

I am not going to sitt here telling you that my own sufi faith is better or more correct that any of what you belive, because the belief i hold in Sufism is a personal path and belief that arise from within. And even i did in the past (before becoming a sufi) as many others, claimed i had the truth, i proven to my self time and time again i did not hold the truth.....

But why is it so dang important to "prove" to others your belief is the "exact truth" and anyone who claim different belief is a liar, fake, falls or even i heard someone call others evil for believeing differently than them self......

What has happend to spiritual/religious people? Isnt religion supposed to take away our ego and selfishness?

My pondering is still going on

Here's more to ponder... Some folks make claims that they don't, but when you read between the lines, they really do. How do you go about figuring that out? Personally, I'd rather have someone come right out and claim it directly than beat around the bush suggesting it, or using passive aggression persuasion tactics, while being fake polite, saying they're not. I prefer direct over sneaky.

I can not speak for others. But i do my best to not say that my belief is the only correct, or that the path i am on is the only correct, and anyone else is fake or false.
I dont even know enough about the religious path i am on my self to tell other Sufis about their wrongs and right. I doing my best to become more and more aware of my own faults, instead of telling others what they do or believe wrong

IMHO, it is unfortunate that they are focused on their Gods.
As for their service, there is always a price for it. Teressa's help (Aspirin for the dying) was dependent on their acceptance of Christianity.

"Unfortunate" how?

If religion is not focused on God, it is not a religion. It is merely a belief.

I have no idea what you are referring to in terms of "Teressa" and "aspirin." care to elaborate?

Who said everyone wants a "pathway to God?" Isn't is a bit selfish in itself to let your ideas of what you, personally want be what informs you of what everyone else wants?

No.

If one believes that God is the Supreme Being, the Creator and King of the universe, and offers spiritual salvation after death, then who would NOT want a "pathway" to that?

The selfish person is the one who does NOT share that information.

Christianity, and Judaism (i.e., "God") are not about forcing anyone to believe. A cursory read of the Bible proves repeatedly that humans have free will to follow or ignore God...And each choice has inherent consequences.

What I, you, or "everyone else" wants is not really relevant, here. The truth is not malleable.

To know God one must first know one self, only then it is possible to end the ego, because then one know what should not be there. And god will be seen in a clear way when ego has been lifted.

Says who?

Again...You're placing your need to "know yourself" first. What, in fact, does that even mean?

We aren't Vulcans. This isn't Star Trek. There's no such thing as "ending the ego." The ego's desires can be easily transferred to "knowing one's self."

Why is it important to insist that 50 + 50 = 100? So that things work effectively.

The Bible says Jesus is the true path to eternal life. Other paths--even religious paths--can lead to ruin.

WORK EFFECTIVELY for eternal life per the Bible, IMHO.

I speak only out of my understanding in the Sufi teaching.
Belief or faith in it self is not enough to enter paradise (through sufism) So to understand one self and understand what form of attachments we as practitioners has to this world, help understand what God/Allah want us to do.
I do not ask you to believe the same as I do, If you are happy as a christian, nothing is better than that

Both God and/or Allah already told us EXACTLY what they want.

So where's the mystery?

just for fun....I went back to take a peek
Sure, sure. I get it.

and did you go back......
to make that choice

Spirit first?
or substance
I specifically remember asking for a definition for "spirit" and some parameters under which I would be willing to accept the concept. I never remember seeing such a definition or justification however. Isn't that interesting? Or perhaps a better word would be typical. Isn't that typical?

Yes. (we could do this all day if you like)

I don't believe that in the slightest... so what justification would you have for trying to share your ideas with someone like me? please do remember your words:
Jacques de Molay said:
If one strongly believes that their Faith is THE pathway to God, then of course they want to share that with others. Why wouldn't they?
The "one" you were talking about was yourself, am I correct in that assessment? As in you are the one who "strongly believes" this stuff. Not necessarily the "others" you are trying to share it with. Do you see?

The selfish person is the one who does NOT share that information.
No. (hahahahahahahaha!)

You're right - Christianity is more about bothering people enough such that belief is simply just "easier" for some of them in order not to be harassed.

What I, you, or "everyone else" wants is not really relevant, here. The truth is not malleable.
And with this you are simply assuming that what you believe in this vein of thought is "the truth" - even though you can provide no greater or better evidence than any other who believes something just as fantastical based on what their parents and others have told them, the scriptures that exist for their religion, personal experiences that they have that they took to be confirmations, etc. That right there is the ultimate hubris. If this mentality of yours isn't selfish, I don't know what is.

I wasn't suggesting you do that. But there are some who do. In my case, it's really easy, as I actually believe some paths are more suited to some folks, and vice versa, just as some occupations are made for certain people.

Do you believe in right, and wrong?

It's not a trick question, I assure you.
