Because I was accused of posting something by a so-called "liberal tabloid" in a different thread even though there were three sources which covered basically the same ground, I decided to go full on ultra-liberal woke socialist marxist with this report from a far left outlet on President Biden's speech tonight:

Biden lays out vision for 'rebuilding' America through slew of policy proposals in first joint address

And the sub-headline was clearly the result of leftist woke propaganda designed to suck in conservatives:

President Biden vowed to work with both Republicans and Democrats to deliver on his agenda

That rag then touted the plot to turn all red-blooded Americans into Borg with this statement about them getting injected with nanoprobes

Biden, from the podium, urged all Americans over the age of 16 to get vaccinated "right now, right away."

And, of course, the part about buy American is designed to get us to buy things that are too expensive and lower our standard of living when everyone knows we should be buying Chinese products

"The American Jobs Plan is going to create millions of good paying jobs—jobs Americans can raise a family on," Biden said. "And all the investments in the American Jobs Plan will be guided by one principle—Buy American. Buy American."

"American tax dollars are going to be used to buy American products, made in America, to create American jobs. That’s the way it’s supposed to be and it will be in this administration," Biden said.

And everyone knows that the wealthy pay too much taxes as it is, even if they pay zero. Corporate America's fair share is zero, of course.

As for paying for his proposals, the president again vowed he could do so "without increasing the deficit," while promising not to "impose any tax tax increase on people making less than $400,000 per year," while pointing to "corporate America" to pay their "fair share."

Then there's a classic socialist-speak for socialized medicine:

He added: "Health care should be a right not a privilege in America."

Of course there's more of the same. But given the source of the story, you know that it's just a pack of socialism.

He says it's paid for by taxes and better collection from tax dodgers. What evidence do you have he's wrong?

Besides which, the odds that he'll get this exact thing through Congress are somewhere between zero and nil so why get so negative about a proposal anyway.

100 days in and "no healthcare reform"? Are you looking for everything all at once? He's proposing more than anyone since FDR so maybe it's time to support him rather than gripe that he's not done a perfect job doing everything that needs to be done all at once.

After all, what was so terrible about this laying down the principle that health care is a right not a privilege.
:
The money we save can go to strengthen the Affordable Care Act – expand Medicare coverage and benefits – without costing taxpayers one additional penny. We’ve talked about it long enough – Democrats and Republicans. Let’s get it done this year.

This is all about a simple premise: Health care should be a right, not a privilege in America. So how do we pay for my Jobs and Family Plans?

There was this related story today that directly relates to how to pay for his proposals (emphasis mine):

Biden’s $80 billion in proposed IRS funding would be a game-changer

The inability to enforce even the tax laws that exist results in what is known as the “tax gap”: the difference between what taxpayers owe and what they pay on time. The gap includes underreported income and tax evasion. In the tax years 2011-13, according to the IRS’s most recent figures, the tax gap was roughly $381 billion per year. In mid-April, Charles Rettig, the head of the IRS, told the Senate Finance Committee that, given the rise of new sources of income such as cryptocurrencies, he estimated that the tax gap will be even higher in the coming years.

“It would not be outlandish that the actual tax gap could approach, and possibly exceed, $1 trillion” a year, Rettig said.

Lmao. You're welcome, I guess.

I didn't pay much attention to Biden's babbling, but I did think it was a great move for the Republicans to counter Biden - an elderly white man - with a young(er) fresh black man (Tim Scott from South Carolina) in their addresses. It only would've been better if they had a black woman deliver their counter-speech. Lol.

Yea, "suddenly" politicians aren't liars anymore and we are to trust everything they say.

Bottom line is (D)'s don't solve problems they subsidize them. Of coarse the people that get the free cash and prizes call that "Love".

But one bright spot, much of the new wealth growth in that past decades is among young (D)'s. So I say tax the absolute crap out of them! They've been begging for it since their Leftist education system indoctrinated them to do so!

There is of course a vast difference between gaslighting liars like Trump and his supporters and others.

And where did I say that we can trust everything they say? Among other things, that's why we have fact check groups who I pay attention to. Trump and co attacks those groups for being honest.

From what I've seen politicians in general are about as honest as the rest of us. And that's the standard I measure them by.

Very early into T's term I thought that someone like Biden (a centrist like Clinton) was needed to save the country. I was not excited by Biden but knew he would infinitely better than the neo-fascist in the WH. Anyway, Biden has far (far) exceeded my expectations, being much more progressive than I thought he would be.

I think we are seeing, in these proposals, a real commitment to helping people and I have do doubt he is heavily influenced in this by his Catholicism.

So I searched on Biden/his faith and of course it is not an original observation. For example,

"WASHINGTON – As President Joe Biden tells it, the nuns who taught the future president based their religious instruction on the Gospel of Matthew: “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

That tenet was echoed during his first days in office, when Biden signed orders to ensure fair treatment for marginalized groups on housing and other issues.

“We’re all God’s children,” Biden said. “We should treat each other as we would like to be treated ourselves.” "
