Does God have a proper name? What for?

What does the one thing have to do with the other?

As I already said, monotheism.

All gods are anthropomorphisms.

Regardless, human beings are social creatures that give names to the things they think about and interact with (or just believe they interact with).

So basically it is a human need.

Your anti God arguments could be kept for another thread.

If I am the only human being on earth, all I need to call myself is "human".

That is a strange conclusion. "Human" addresses species but that doesn't mean that you can't give yourself a name separate to that that doesn't address your species. Names involve other elements such as meaning, emotion etc. It is a form of self expression too. If god wishes to express himself through a name, why not?

Also, why do you think that "need" has to come into the discussion? God could give himself a name just because he wishes to.

It seems like you're asking for the point of human nature. Humans name things.

There's no need for me to call my coffee maker "Chester Coffeepot," but that doesn't change the fact that this is its name.

What if there was only one single coffee maker in the whole of the world???

You think being the only human being on earth, with no other whatsoever, one would want to name himself with a proper name? If you dont like the word Need, how about Want?

That would be a sad, sad world.

In that situation, I doubt I would let my coffee maker go without a name. If anything, I'd keep the name "Chester Coffeepot" and lose the description "coffee maker." After all, it's meaningless to talk about a category of things where there's only one example.
