No craving for meat

Why are you doing this to me?

While I can't say I crave meat nowadays, I definitely miss bacon.
I read an article about 15-years ago that said that Bacon Butties were the prime factor in vegetarians transgressing.

I can believe it.

I genuinely can't be around people if they're cooking or eating bacon. The temptation is just too much.

Yes, but no but...
I mean there are also people who feel more relaxed and happy after eating or drinking less subtle foods or drink. I guess it depends on the personality. A lion will never like the taste of spinache unless it feels sick.

I sometimes question the idea of certain species only liking certain things...

Cats aren't supposed to like vegetables, but two of mine do to the point of being problematic. There's not much my beloved Swatty will get into the garbage for, but he can't resist collard greens. His brother Lamar steals cabbage off the chopping board if I turn my back. The two are ex ferals, though they were domesticated at least a year apart. (Lamar was in bad shape and was an easy catch, Swatty was the ringleader and took awhile.)

I have noticed some of the other cats have unexpected preferences. Kore prefers httpss3.amazonaws.comfoodservicedirect.comimgs_lrgnff307421g.jpgto roasted-chicken-1.jpg.

I suspect the reason/s underlying this dietary preference would determine whether or not there is any temptation experienced.

Even when i go shopping for food, i do not notice the meat section anymore. it is just there for others to eat if they like :)
I still eat meat but I lost my desire for sex a long time ago, and then when I read what Baha'u'llah wrote about earthly desires I never considered it again. It is just there for others to do if they like it. :)

I quit smoking. It was tough, physically. When people go off alcohol, they can get DTs, the shakes and other nasty stuff. It's very physical.
I didn't say it was not tough, I said "the emotional part to totally get rid of" is much tougher. Alcoholics know this, because they say "you stay alcoholic, you just don't practice it (as in don't drink it)"

I fully agree, the physical part was 'hell'. When I did this cleanse to overcome addictions, I had tremendous headaches for 24h/day (barely slept, so much physical pain), could barely walk, and fainted when standing up. Shaking like crazy. But that only lasted ca. 4 days.

To really get rid of even all the thoughts of my addictions took ca. 21 days fasting. Much more hard to achieve.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
The desire for meat isn't a real physical craving, just a psychological one. Anyone who has quit smoking, or dried out from booze knows what a physical craving is. When you're hungry, you crave food, but not a specific type of food. Meat has no addictive chemicals in it, as far as I know.
It is physical anyway. You have to eat at least some meat products or you will get sick. Strict vegetarian is not good for you.

And everyone of them has taken substances from animal based sources.

Especially Retinol and B12.

Yes, back in the early days of India when vegetarianism was also a big thing, the village medicinal doctors were well aware of Retinol and B12 deficiency. They made their own little tablets to hand out.
