Komnadant Bidens concentration camp photos leaked out.

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Thought I'd use the term that some liberally threw around when Trump was in office.

Thanks to photos released, by Rep. Henry Cuellar (D) of Texas. It's clearly upsetting some on the left as well. Kudos to Rep. Cuellar for doing the right thing.

As you can see, Komnadant Biden is doing much better than Trump. Ahem ... at hiding things from the public. Untill now.

Biden was asked but he sent a representative instead while he hid from the press.

What gets me is that during the previous administration the conditions in the detainment facilities were far less egregious and there was an uprorr among various political groups, media sources, and on this forum. But now there is hardly a peep heard.
Then we have certain members on this forum that are attempting to defend what is going on by deflecting the problem back to the previous administration, or attempting to change the subject.

Don't forget concentration camps.

Those are concentration camps, not detention facilities.

From the article:

Biden has kept in place a Trump-era public health order and expelled thousands of immigrant adults and families, but he declined to expel immigrant children without a parent after a federal appeals court in January cleared the way for him to do so. He also moved to speed up the reunification of hundreds of separated immigrant families.

“What Trump did was horrible,” Cuellar said. “These pictures show you that even under our best intentions, and the Biden administration has the best intentions, it’s still very difficult.”

Even if you give Biden the benefit of the doubt here, the secrecy of this is sketchy as hell. I understand that this is by no means a uniquely American problem but the USA really does seem to be the master of providing voters with a choice between varying degrees of awfulness.

This, literally, happens with every new president. Don't take the high ground here when I would argue everyone here is guilty.

Biden is actually barring reporters from this.

They did release their own version of it however.

Biden administration releases video from inside crowded migrant detention facilities

Of course that shows all the things like giving a food, humane conditions, social distancing all the works. Stuff they want to public to see. Also known as government sanctioned videos and photos.

problems are very easily created. fixing them is much more tenuous.

case in point. i can demolish a house in a matter of minutes. it will take months to rebuild it. and i have to work inside the laws, rules, and guidelines to rebuild this thing. it isn't going to get fixed in a day, even in a month.

you see the problem?

i agree with transparency and barring the press isn't kosher

but you've already admitted in the past you have a chip on your shoulder with liberals. it shows.

Rome wasn't built in a day, even a couple of years. its an ongoing continuous process of evolution; which most conservatives don't like. evolution that is. you want to mire down in the traditional but alas love makes every thing new again.

anna.

but mostly it's the same
The difference between this administration and the previous is that it was the INTENTIONAL POLICY of the Trump administration to separate children from parents as a deterrent to immigrants. This is NOT the policy of the Biden administration.

This border issue has been with us for many decades. In what reality is it solved in 60 days?

I agree that it is an incorrect move to keep aspects of this from the press. My guess is that the conditions don't live up to expectations that could be assumed based on Biden's/Harris' condemnation of these facilities' usage under Trump, and they are embarrassed to let people see that they even find themselves unable to live up to their own hype.

That said, as Henry Cuellar in the article itself and others have mentioned, the intention to do right by these people is there, where I would definitely argue that it was not under Trump. To argue that Trump even cared a lick about these people would be a pretty tough task. I know I wouldn't want the job of arguing that side. What a schlep the man was.

In the end, there isn't some "magic" solution that is going to suddenly produce mansions for these kids to sleep in, and see them dining on steak and shrimp. They are showing up, unannounced during a pandemic, and there are people scrambling to make sure they have basic needs met. I don't see cages in these photos, in other words. Even the change to plastic partitioning from wire-mesh fencing shows that someone involved cares about what these kids think about the sheltering they are receiving. That wasn't there with Trump. It just wasn't. That man was a piece of crap, plain and simple.

The thing is, a number of democrats themselves are having issues with this.

The OP is basically creating the false equivalency that's a logical as saying grapes are the same as bowling balls because both are round.

The Trump administration's repeatedly stated purpose was for purely political reasons so as to "send a message", plus they withdrew all funding from the Northern Triangle Countries and withdrew from a consortium of some neighboring countries there that were trying to deal with the problem in their place.

With the Biden administration, they made it very clear that their concern was more humanitarian in nature, which is one reason why the influx has been so large. Of course, those people whom are heavy into xenophobia and racism, such as Trump clearly was and is, are going to be very much bothered by this.

The influx is now much greater than during the former administration, so they're scrambling to try and find shelters, possibly even here in the great-white north. But the message has been sent that we cannot handle more at this time because we've been so overwhelmed. For these kid's sake especially, sending the back is about as cruel as cruel could be because of the problems down there are so terrible.

Also, this administration is trying to reorganize the consortium which, once done, should be able to process these children and parents in place.

Your newfound concern for undocumented immigrants is truly touching and undoubtedly sincere.
