What does this mean? Is God the literal embodiment of love?

Bible tells God is also a spirit.

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
John 4:24

And I have understood that spirit is like attitude, or state of mind. If your mind is in state of Love, it means you care and do good things to others, because of that.

That is why I wouldn’t say God is embodiment of love. God is love, and he can embody/dwell in people. :)

He really is sir. Many people do not understand His love, but of His four main qualities (Justice, Power, Wisdom) He is called Love as you mentioned. It is His predominant quality. The Bible states as well that We love because God first loved us 1 Jn 4:19

Actually, not so obvious. "Love" in English is one of those generic words that is used to mean many different things, which can muddy the waters. Agape, the Greek word used in this passage, is not really referring to an emotion. Agape
If we credit a Creator with agape, unconditional love, none of the Western religions are teaching it. The Christian God, for example, loves only on the condition that Jesus is accepted as savior.

"Agape (Ancient Greek ἀγάπη, agapē) is a Greco-Christian term referring to unconditional love, "the highest form of love, charity" and "the love of God for man and of man for God".[1] The word is not to be confused with philia, brotherly love, or philautia, self-love, as it embraces a universal, unconditional love that transcends and persists regardless of circumstance." - Wikipedia

Powerful.
