God created us to worship Him but He will punish us if we don't?

The Bible says He created us and the angels out of love and He wants to worship Him because that's what He made us for: to serve Him. This is the purpose of human life according to the Bible. But He doesn't force anyone. Some angels rebelled and humans are free to rebel too, but we will be punished, humans and non humans.

Psalms 103:20 Bless the Lord, you His angels, Mighty in strength, who perform His word, Obeying the voice of His word! 21 Bless the Lord, all you His angels, You who serve Him, doing His will.

Ecclesiastes 12:13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

2 Peter 2:4 For God did not spare angels when they sinned, but cast them into hell and committed them to pits of darkness, reserved for judgment.

Jude 1:6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

2 Thessalonians 1:9 When the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels 8 in flaming fire, dealing out retribution to those who do not know God, and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 These people will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.

Eternal destruction, not eternal torment. The torment is reserved for Satan, the demons, the beast and the false prophets, as it says in the Bible. Other normal humans will just be destroyed forever.

He made us out of love so that we can serve Him and worship Him?

Next time, could He please ask before creating me, if He is really so loving?
I am not into worsheeping nor serving anyone, or else I get lovingly destroyed or whatever lovingly horrible.

I guess this is not what you meant to write, but this does make a bit of sense to me ... He wants to worship Himself

You also were created with the freedom to not-accept the gift of life, and step out of it
IF the negative gets bigger than the positive, I made up my mind to step out of it
So far, the balance still is positive, but I had my periods that I came close

We have a proverb in Holland "not to criticize a given gift"
(Google translated: do not look a given horse in the mouth)

Um, okay? When I was a Christian, this is not what I believed.

Do you realise how that sounds to a non-believer?
We are only here to worship a narcissus god.

The last line of you post is just threats.
Threats don't change people's minds.

The emphasis is different when you say God created is to serve and worship him. It creates a different image than when you say he created us to love and know him, and other beings.
It's both correct. I never meant to emphasize one more than the other although I don't see why it matters. We were created to serve, worship, know and love God. Saying "worship" encompasses all of the above, how can you worship something you don't know or love?

My God doesn't need worship, and He most certainly wouldn't punish. But then, He's a Loving God.

Why do we gotta worship him? How come just loving him isn't enough?

I don’t think those are the same as God requiring us to worship Him, especially because it is also said:

The God who made the world and all things in it, he, being Lord of heaven and earth, doesn't dwell in temples made with hands, neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed anything, seeing he himself gives to all life and breath, and all things.
Acts 17:24-25

Pure religion [religious worship] and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
James 1:27

The punishment is because for unrighteous and eternal life is for righteous. Righteousness is more than doing some work.

These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
Mat. 25:46

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23
