Spirtual teacher

Spirit of Light

Be who ever you want
If you are religious or spiritual, do you have a teacher or guide? How is your relationship with him/her?

Do you have face to face contact now, or over Internet?

My teacher is Lokman Effendi( see photo)

At the moment I have contact via internet, but will travel there as soon covid19 is over. I think personal live guidance is best

I used to go to a Buddhist establishment run by a senior (in residence) monk. I don't think it's essential long term, personally. If it was closer I'd probably still go but as it is, it's a bit of a jaunt.*

*perhaps I should use the word pilgrimage :p

I have several teachers; Adi Shankara, Vivekananda, Ramakrisha, Sarvapriyananda, Sadhguru, and Don Miguel Ruiz, to name a few. I have no relationship with them, as I've never met them in person or had a direct exchange with them. Their teaching has been through text and video.

I am my own guide.

I believe our guides are our spiritual human parents. Who we should love and honour as first humans.

Their love and spirituality teach me.

Today my spiritual brothers and sisters who love and honour life I admire. Without their support and life experiences I would have no support to challenge evil human thoughts.

As we are just human and our thoughts pertain our choices.

Spirituality is my teacher in many forms.

I have many human teachers but for a Christian there is one teacher who teaches through His Spirit which He has given to us.

Yes. Most years we pilgrimage to the home of the Guru, and have a 20 minute private meeting. I can contact Him any time via email, but rarely have, as most of my questions have been asked, or I can find answers elsewhere. There are also other devotees designated to answer the baser questions.

The relationship is more inner than outer.

Yes, I have a spiritual advisor and sponsor via a 12 step program. I also sponsor others. But ultimately the spirit of God that lives within me is my guide if I listen. I am not my own savior.

If you are religious or spiritual,
I don't believe it's either/or, so I'll say a combination of both.

do you have a teacher or guide?
Gandhi.

How is your relationship with him/her?
Since he's dead, were not close.;)

I just admire his teachings, and following them really changed my life big time.

Do you have face to face contact now, or over Internet?
No, but there is a women I dated for months back when doing my undergrad work at Western Michigan University, who changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. We didn't end up together, but the woman I married 54 years ago next week is so much like her.

BTW, as nuts as this might sound, a "spiritual connection" ["premonitions"] with my former girlfriend that started about five years ago has again changed my life in ways I didn't at all expect.

So, the word "spiritual" has a very special meaning to me.

Yes.

There is naturally inner guidance. The model for how I aspire and work toward being is, as Meher Baba indicated:
Think thoughts you would not hesitate to think in My presence.
Speak words you would not hesitate to speak in My presence.
And do things you would not hesitate to do in My presence

The more I'm able to pay heed to the inner pole star, the better.

We have contact through weekly written messages and classes. We can always send her happy and positive news. When her work load allows, we can ask questions.

Before COVID when there were events for children or those on the bottom of society we'd have casual contact during the event but our focus was on service on those occasions.
