What is your spirit animal?

Where do you fall in the Domains and Kingdoms of life then? Are you part of the Fungi?
I don't fall.
I am not an elitist claiming Kingdoms.
I am just a human whose own brother said we bodily own more data in body chemistry and cell presence to an ape.

Yet my human father and human mother are imaged in the spirit world background history.

Basic when you own brain use.

Well, that's not why I asked at all, although the word play is almost appreciated.

Raccoons here have repeatedly stolen bird feeders and outdoor cat food dishes over the years. I believe that they drag them back to wherever they are holed up because "the magic feeders fill up with brand new food each day, so if we bring it home with us, we won't have to go out to find food..."

Imagine their surprise when they aren't magically refilled...ever...

Now that is a bit harsh to my best friends. A bit of kindness seems to be deserved.

A feral cat.

I mentioned years ago on another forum that I felt a cat was my spirit animal, but was told domestic animals didn't count. After some reflection, I still am stuck on that cat...

A cat really doesn't have to be domestic. It adapts to its surroundings, and acts the way it needs to in order to survive. It takes its pleasure off of the things that are there. It doesn't seek too far, typically(unless its hungry). It can play in the living room, or on the porch at the house on the next block. They are not so finicky as they are made out to be, nor as clean and fussy as reputed. They live in the moment, and they don't worry too far ahead.

As far as experiences with them, I seem to be able to talk to them. I remember my first experience with this was as a teen... I watched a feral cat run from me, and I meowed. It stopped, and ran back to me! I was shocked. Throughout my life, I seem to have a special bond with them... indeed, I have trouble keeping them away!

You see. You are loved.

You know, I'm not sure... I admire the intelligence and cunning of the raven. I admire the stubbornness and the ambition of the salmon. I also admire the thoughtfulness and keenness of senses that a deer possesses.

Maybe I just don't have one? I've never been able to settle on just one. :D

That is wonderful. At least you are connected with our world and not completely surrounded by four walls. The salmon is interesting from a Celtic standpoint for they new the rhythms of the world and thus its poetry. Deer can help you enter the other world, the magical world. And one of Ireland's greatest heroes had a mother that was a deer. Ravens are one of the most intelligent animals of the world and Odin would have been lost without his two ravens.

Quite a few years ago, I tried out a meditative exercise that was intended to let you connect with your spirit animal. I don't fully remember the details of how it was done, though there was nothing dramatic about it. Pretty much just clearing the mind of everything but the desire to meet your spirit animal. After some time, an animal did indeed appear in my mind.

I saw a chinchilla.

I know! I was honestly expecting to see a crow or a raven. Given that most people say their spirit animal is something associated with mystery or grace, I thought my mind would conjure something like that.

It was so out of character for how my mind works that it left me wondering if maybe there really was some outside force that I connected with. I guess that's impossible to prove or disprove though so I'll just say it was an interesting experience and leave others to come to their own conclusions.

You never know for sure what will enter your life. Chinchilla is excellent and you have a wonderful open mind.

I do like meerkats, but I don't approve of them selling car insurance in the UK. :p
But seriously, I relate to many animals, particularly the ones I see regularly on the coast. Seals and cormorants are among my favourites.

All I can say is Hakuna Matata to you.

The animal that has the most impact on my life, and which I spend the most time thinking about, is in fact the fox. This is because it has been, over recent years, the animal that has caused me the most annoyance. I have a feeling this is not what you are after, though. ;)

The animal I am best friends with is the robin in the back garden - or its family: I can't tell individuals apart.

But I can't see any spiritual significance in the robin, whereas the fox seems to exhibit a conscious malevolence towards me that is at times a bit eerie.

You need to read the book "What the Robin knows". It is an amazing book that will change the way you see robins for the rest of your life. It also is an excellent book for people to wake up to the amazing world around them that most have never experienced in their lifetime.

As for the fox well it is good to have some mystery in our lives. We know much but we never know everything. And thats coming from someone rooted in science. Thanks.

Possibly a horse, a goose, a variety of burrowing rabbit, a gibbon or a tree snake.
Might consider a squid as well.

If you have not seen it watch the movie "My Octopus Teacher". It is a transforming movie about a personal journey into connecting with nature - very beautiful story. The others are wonderful too.

A skunk-- which my wife says is quite appropriate. :emojconfused:

I am a Me'tis [3 of my 4 grandparents], but since I was not brought up in the "tradition of the elders" I didn't know what my totem was until a woman who is Cherokee helped me. What was the key in my case was a reoccurring dream [literally thousands of times] of running into a skunk in the tall grass field next to the house I grew up in, whereas we had a conversation.

Now despite the noticeable smell, I love skunks. They are quite beautiful to see. Of course when they start stamping their feet I have learned it is time to back away and quickly. Very powerful spirit animal.

Reminds me of the movie 'Thunderheart'.

Hope this is the right category and hope this is interesting and fun.

What is your spirit animal?

A spirit animal at least in this thread is an animal which you have a strong connection with. This may be symbolically or with repeated encounters or where there is a special meaningful interaction or any combination. The animal can by real or mythical. What matters is that animal has a special meaning or connection to you.

I am sure there are those who know their spirit animal but if you do not here are some ways you may find your spirit animal.

1. Pay attention to recurrent appearances of a particular animal.

Are you noticing recurrent encounters with an animal, seeing symbols or pictures of a particular animal, or seeing even TV shows or movies where you notice a particular animal or hearing that animal in song?

2. Does an animal appear in you dreams, especially one that appears in many dreams?

You can also discover a spirit animal through an altered state of consciousness such as journeying or a vision quest.

3. Have you come across any animals with unusual behaviors that catch your attention? An animal that stares at you, comes up to you, or causes you to take notice. An animal

4. Meditate about an animal or any animal that you feel a longstanding connection with or one that you can just identify with.

You can find many descriptions on the internet linking the animal with meaning. These can be helpful but the most important is what you find as the meaning that is important to you. Understanding about the animal is also very helpful – where and how it lives in its environment. Special qualities in how that animal has adapted to its environment.

So what is your spirit animal.?
Maybe the reindeer,or the crow. I'm not sure

I was camping once in Pawnee State Park in Pennsylvania, and there were so many skunks that came out in the evening that we had to walk clapping our hands so they would part. One evening by the campfire, one fell asleep under the stool I was sitting on, thus proof of my spiritual connection, I guess. ;)

BTW, I fed a wild fox near Yellowstone that I got to put his front paws on my legs, which is something I would normally not do, but he was also being fed by some of the workers at the park.

I've not seen that, but I did read the book "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee" quite a while back. I'll have to check it out, so thanks so much for the heads-up, my friend.
