WWJD: could society function?

Regiomontanus

Ματαιοδοξία ματαιοδοξιών! Όλα είναι ματαιοδοξία.
Yes, surrender. And handing over the Jews as well.

I understand where you are coming from. Turning the other cheek has been the single hardest thing for me to do since becoming a Christian.

Your blatant ignoring of the fact that Jesus had no problem with self defense in order to push some fantastical pacifist agenda is noted.

What? I can't figure out your grammar here.
Jesus DID have a problem with 'self defense' and he showed it by allowing his disciples
to purchase swords, and then after using them he healed someone injured by these
weapons. To make a point.

If everyone lived their lives according to "what would Jesus do" could society function, or would it collapse?...

I don’t see any reason why it would not work. I think it would be better than what we now have.

Personally, I think it would improve but perhaps I'm being naive?
It would improve ... but would people ever do that?

Jesus could cure with a touch. But his time was very valuable. Curing the poor is very expensive today, sometimes millions of dollars per person. I really don't see how the US could subsidize such medical coverage. It seems as though something in the economy has got to break.

The US medical system has been on the brink of ruin for the last year....

Well, JC would not have voted for right wing parties; he hated the money lenders and wanted to feed all.
So, if voting for socialism is an outcome, we would have a better world.
I hear this so often: Jesus being linked to socialism.
But Jesus wrote the whole of the Bible, and later they had socialism and it went wrong.
See Acts 2:45 for existing socialism and Acts 11:29 or Romans 15:26 when they went broke (my interpretation).

Socialism does NOT equal communism. They are totally different, socialism accepts capitalism.

JC definitely wanted to help the poor and needy. He cared for children, not like the GOP or Tories in UK

Socialism does NOT equal communism.
but socialism is what the Bible verses were talking about, I think.
Socialism according to Definition of SOCIALISM, means advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods - that's what happened in Jerusalem among the Christians back then.

But look at the countries I named, they are 'socialist' it is what it is. The dictionary definition has long since gone. It has become a scare word in the US

the disctionary counts. I don't like redifining things every once in a while.
If you don't like this word, look for another one.
I think it has become common to distort the meaning of words and we shouldn't contribute to it.
If we don't stick to the definitions used by scientists, economists in this case, we can't discuss properly and we would just be muddying the water. If we don't use proper wording, everybody could bring in a new meaning once they feel like it in this case...
So please: stick to the wording used by experts in this fields. The ones who have a scientific degree.
Don't just reflect the dreams and wishes of self-declared "experts".
You can use all sorts of precise terminology for what you mean.

You ignore much of what I said - socialism to most countries (Not US where it is basically communism) is a left leaning government. I said to look at New Zealand and Scandinavian countries.

Jesus healed the sick (regardless of wealth).

Many nations have socialized medicine, but it seems to me that paying millions of dollars to heal a homeless person with a serious illness is not economically sustainable.

Yet, there is so much that we can do to help the homeless, and ignoring them is not the solution.

Every is hurt by germs. Homeless people have no place to pee and poop. We should insist that the government sets up porto-potties. This certainly seems like a weird topic for a religious forum, but tending to the needy is a very big part of God's plans.

Very often, the most humane plan is the cheapest plan. It would cost a fortune if the homeless had to catch (and spread) COVID.

Hitler was a right leaning Socialist (National Socialist Party=NAZI).
