That would be interesting though it shows their lack of pragmatism.
One should work within the framework of what you’re given.
This just seems like a temper tantrum.

This has been attempted in the not-so-distant past with little success. We shall see.

So, you scoundrel, you still have at least one refuge left! :D (With apologies to Samuel Johnson.)
I've been pleased that patriots have called
me "traitor" for dodging the draft. And I was
thrilled to discover that I committed a felony
in the process.
It's permissible to post that cuz it's civil
disobedience. And I was indeed civil.

Political suicide by the right? You're free to form your own views on this, of course, but offhand, I'm serious when I say, "Wouldn't that amount to in practice a shift to at least a moderate degree in the consequences of their behavior from putting America on the whole at risk, to mostly putting themselves at risk?"

Honestly, there seems to me a sense in which political suicide by the right approaches their taking responsibility for what they have been doing to both themselves and to the rest of us for about 40 years now. Assuming 'taking responsibility' still means 'doing something about it'.

By the way, I do not believe there is any compelling reason grounded in logic that makes it necessary to spell out in this particular context the obvious fact both sides are to VARYING degrees engaged in notably similar behavior nowadays. So far as I can see 'whataboutism' is neither valid nor sound reasoning.

I think it's a wonderful idea. I'd be happy to contribute $100 to it if it gets on the ballot in even 25 states.
