Schitt's Creek

wandering peacefully

Which way to the woods?
I am probably the last one to the party as usual, but who else loves this series?!

What do you enjoy about the show or what valuable messages do you believe it contains?

Would the world be a better place if we all lived in a Schitt's Creek social environment? Why or why not?

Or you don't need to reply but I hope others get a sense of moral and comic relief from watching it. It is one of the only things besides my grandchildren's antics that has made me laugh and feel good lately.

Takes a certain oddball taste. I watched a couple of episodes on the first two seasons, and didn't catch it. Now I'm a superfan. If you don't pick up on all the nuances, it won't be great. But once you buy into some of the stuff, it's plain hilarious. It's right out of SCTV, and the only thing I can think of that would have made it better is if Johhny LaRue would have been a guest in the motel for a night.

Awesome! I started by binging on season 5 and then 6. So I've seen the end. I loved it so much I had to start from the beginning. I'm on season 2 now so haven't seen the character or scenario you mentioned yet but they are all original and fun. What about the giant portrait magically fitting through the doors into the room then lobby?

Yes, after getting the nuances and being completely open and understanding of what life is really about, it's fabulous!

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry. There is no character in Schitt's creek by that name. Johnny LaRue was a John Candy sketch comedy character in the original SCTV. Most of those old SCTV sketches are free if you google them. If you like S .. Creek, you'll like SCTV.

Editted to add link ... Here's one with Eugene Levy in it ...

I thought it was really funny. Moira Rose is one of my favourite characters in anything ever.

It's painfully sentimental at times which would switch me right off generally. I'm not quite sure why I can handle the level of corny but I can.

Ah, I see. I will definitely check out the SCTV. I'm so uneducated in the realm of movie stars and current popular sitcoms. My main go to is news, nature and crime shows. It's no wonder I find it such a funny relief!

Moira is great. She learned so quickly the value of being real while understanding the fragility and needs of her fellow humans and being able to show empathy and kindness. And her wild outfits are great! Nothing I would wear but really artfully done and funny. I've fallen in love with all of the characters. Its literally the best done show I've seen.

I muttered to the other half about the "stupid clothes she wears" the first couple of times I saw the show (kinda over her shoulder as it wasn't "my type of thing"). Then every scene she appeared in I found myself chuckling at her outfits. It's the funniest running joke. I almost died when I saw her hat in the last episode.

Also, whoever wrote her lines is a genius. Hilariously pretentious but sharp as a razor. And she's so enetertainingly vain and self absorbed and also somehow sweet and charming.

Yeah I thought the entire cast were great. Roland Schitt (cheapest laugh ever) is so effing funny it's painful.

Saw the 1st couple episodes years ago.
Didn't do it for me.
Bummer! I have to literally force myself to hit the off button on the remote in order to stop binging. I've lately updated to more modern times and got an Amazon fire stick. So I see all sorts of cool stuff now. I haven't had cable for 20 years. I had a digital antenna but this app stuff is amazing.

Anyways, maybe try binging 4 shows in a row? I think being able to see them whenever makes a difference in how quickly one can get into it or give it a good chance before deciding against it.

We call firesticks "rifles" these days.

I thought that needed clarification. I mean as in all of the national guard around the capitol and everywhere else not the wanna be militias hiding about on ranches and making plans to overthrow the us government and playing with their wanna be AR rifles and flags and freaky face paints.

Now we own it all. Time to take there guns away just like they always feared. They don't deserve to keep them. At least the war weapons. Keep the hunting rifles and the registered pistol carried to and from the range like Canada but time to get rid of the rest.

Or maybe they'll get smart and stay home, drink beer, keep their toys under their beds and not be so ignorant. But that plan hasn't worked out so far and I won't hold my breath.

Is this still the Schitt's Creek thread?

I hope others get a sense of moral and comic relief

My wife and I are currently on season 3 of the show and we really like it, i feel like the 1st season was the funniest imo. The moral sense i get from it is be happy with whatever you got because, it could all be taken away and get worse and even then, still appreciate what you got because, it could still get worse.

Hmmm. Interesting take. I get more that being loving, compassionate and changing your inner self to adapt to the reality of your life, enables one to achieve a more important existence even if you happen to have everything or nothing.. With a ton of humor added.
Sadly, I reached the end of the middle of the series late last week so I've seen it all....now what!?
