The Commandments

Messianic Israelite

I think we are on a different planet, Messianic Israelite;

The Golden Rule was pre-Biblical and that is much better than the Commandments
How should a child react to 5. if your parents are abusing you; should you still honour them?
Hi Altfish. haha. I don't think we're on different planets. Different countries, maybe. The golden rule was no doubt taught in the Garden of Eden.

Ephesians 6:4 expounds on the Law when Paul says "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but nurture them in the chastening and admonition of Yahweh."

We're to honour our parents, because they brought us up and it is indicative of the relationship we have with Yahweh. But, parents can sometimes abuse their position. In ancient Israel, some even learnt the abominable practice of burning their children to Molech, a foreign mighty one. This practice was so abhorrent to Yahweh. You can feel the anger of Yahweh in Leviticus 20 against the parents of anyone who engages in this abominable, heathen custom. He says "I also will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto Molech, to defile my sanctuary, and to profane my holy name".

Just like sacrificing a child to Molech, abusing a child would be greatly detested by Yahweh because it violates the commandment in the 10 commandments of misusing His Name by doing evil - doing something He wouldn't do.

Hi Unveiled Artist. Thank you for your response. Yes, people can devise their own moral system based on their opinions and experiences to prevent evil and promulgate good, but how does one truly know that what they believe is truly good? With close scrutiny many people's moral systems are bound to change depending on the situation. The goal for the true worshipper isn't simply to see to it that good prevails in our own life, but we want to please Yahweh and we believe that the good of keeping the commandments will be rewarded in the Kingdom of Yahweh. We have moral values that are worth living by and dying by, just as Yahshua did.

There isn't a thing as a true worshiper. This type of thinking has caused many wars. The "best king...the president... unity under one flag. It's all politics.

There's a quote I like that has many meanings from Native Wisdom for White Minds. It's "when you constrict a rainbow, the only color you get is white."

Preventing evil has nothing to do with Yahsua. Religions and morals can motivate people avoid evil but shouldn't be a foundation for all people in order to be successful in such.

If one doesn't believe in a Creator, one can still have morals. I agree with that. Paul spoke of this in Romans 2:14. But having some of the truth is not the same as having all of the truth. To answer your question, I don't believe a compromise can be made. If we want to be righteous people, we have to accept the righteousness of the law (Deuteronomy 6:25).

Wars happen because people don't want to or can't compromise. That's the problem with abrahamic oriented religions. Making multiple god religions and threatening them to be under one rule (among other historical examples) is still protenant in today's christian (and so forth) mindset. To avoid evil, there must be some compromise. Use Yahuwah to support your motivation but not to change others to follow what you do.

(I'm curious. The African synchronicity thread was that sparked by my avatar?)
