With 4100 Americans dead in one day, why did God think viruses were a good idea?

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
Yup, although sabertooth tigers would have been way cooler.

Should have kept those and gotten rid of the viruses.
I think they want to resurrect tiger tooth, like the whooly mammoth.

Just as long as they don't try to make a t rex from a chicken......that might not be a good idea.

And I dont care about the feelings of people actively spreading disease and not giving a damn they do while their choices are having dire consequences for everybody else. Hurt your feelings? Oh well. Not taking this seriously is killing people, and not just those with covid. So, no, I give not one damn if that upset you.

I have no answers to my own questions, obviously, but I thought maybe some of the more religious members could give me some insight into the presumed benefit that we inherit from this one part of God's creation...

No-one claims that God thinks viruses are a good idea. But in a way, maybe they are because
they could be the earliest form of 'life' and thus are essential to the scheme of things.
If you refer to 'God' as in the Judea Christian God then the bible states our life is brief and we
should make the most of it - famines, plagues, earthquakes and wars are just around the corner.

Oh my, did I say that!

Maybe he's starting to realize that he made too many of us.
I thought that was why S/He made homosexuals and lesbians - as a feedback loop to lower the population - but I suppose illness and sickness work just the same. Shame S/He allowed us to combat the latter using our brains.

Around 1979, I discussed the upcoming wars in Iraq and God's wrath (Revelation 15: seven plagues, including COVID). I completely convinced my friend who had been highly educated in Christianity. He agreed with me that two demons would become presidents of the United States (most powerful nation in the world that would conquer Babylon, Iraq), and that would put us in end times (which many preachers, today, believe). Revelation 17:18 made it quite clear that the most powerful nation in the world would capture Iraq, against God's orders, and corrupt it (that is why the United States is known as the Whore of Babylon, in Revelation (bible)).

These two foul Satanic creatures did what all Satanic creatures do.....they gained power by pretending that they represented God, and they gained power by deception.

These Satanic demons make wars, environmental destruction, diseases, etc.

Doesn't anyone understand that God's punishment for attacking Iraq (COVID) is not a normal function of God, nor is it something that could be prayed away.

Mankind sinned, and they sinned more than they ever had in the past, and the world will be destroyed as a result.

I didn't read past this post, but it makes me giggle to think anyone here, religious or not, could speak intelligently about God's intent.

But nonetheless, I'm confident I'll find bits of scripture conveniently interpreted to correspond with what has happened or is happening COVID-19...

Well, I made it all the way to the first response in this thread to find out my guess was accurate...

Anyway, with regard to the OP, it was people, not any God, that thought "viruses were a good idea," at least with regard to the virus you appear to be referencing in the title of the thread. It was people that created the virus, and people that spread the virus. I didn't see any mention in my research of any God having anything to do with the virus' creation and spread.

Covid has nothing to do with Iraq. We get a pandemic every 100 years or so. And this one is not
where near as bad as the Spanish flu - and THAT flu was nowhere near as bad as the Black Death.
Like Sars and Mers, we will soon vaccinate against Covid.
When we took out Iraq that nation could no longer attack its neighbors, or gas its own people. We did
well.

It's My Birthday!
And what does that say?

Oh sorry, i didn't know you couldn't read the bible, here, let me copy it out for you.

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

The hypocrisy of war works both ways so fixed it for you

Saddam Hussein's Iraq was the closest any Arab nation got to becoming a totalitarian state.
Iraq invaded Iran and Kuwait - with incredible brutality. Over a million dead in the Iran war,
and thousands still missing from the Kuwait invasion. And then you have the weapons of
mass destruction used against the Kurds and Iranians. Fortunately Hussein didn't get the
bomb, thanks to Israel (nor did Syria for that matter.) And there's the home front terror where
tens of thousands of Iraqis were imprisoned, tortured or murdered.

Oh that, yes the world is good. Doesn't mean that cat don't kill birds or lions eat grass.
It means good - without defining what good is.
Earthquakes are 'bad' but they relieve stresses in the subduction plates which keep
renewing the landscape, causing rainfall through mountains and stop the oceans from
silting up - so that's 'good' too. Depends how you want to view life.

The Iraq War was not a virus. Let's please stay on topic, as continued derailment of the thread may result in moderation.

IMO:

That is a convenient idea, to enforce this question on believers, just to criticize their faith
But such a question makes no sense. They need not explain anything why they believe

My answer did make sense.

When you drive through red traffic lights, you get a fine or you get killed
We don't blame the other driver going through green lights killing you

This shows that your question makes no sense
Tigers and sharks also eat humans if they are hungry and humans are available
Should we also explain why creating tigers and sharks was such a good idea of God

Be smart, live healthy and big chance you don't die of corona. God/Scriptures warns also that hygiene is important
Do remember how/wehere the virus originated; caused by humans in China (allegedly) not in Europe or US
You are talking about one virus in particular -- there are lots more, and they are rather more indiscriminate about who they kill. Thank goodness for our (not God's) invention of vaccines.

In any case, it is simply not true that COVID-19 kills only those who have self-induced comorbidities, and not every comorbidity is self-inflicted.

And I don't see what the virus's origin in China has to do with anything.

That is your opinion. You are entitle to have and voice your opinion

Your Ad Hominem attack is not appreciated though "these selfish idiots"

So, I agree to disagree (which means that here the conversation ends)
(When you start name-calling, I am not interested to reply ... just to let you know)
I do believe that @Shadow Wolf was referring to those who ignore health protocols around spreading the virus.
