Many Bible promises are conditional. If my people (or an individual) does X, God will bless with Y. Note the terms of blessing given here, from Deuteronomy 28:
“Since you did not serve the Lord your God with joy and a cheerful heart, in gratitude for the abundance of all things, 48 you will serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you, in hunger, thirst, nakedness, and devoid of all things; and He will put an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.
49 “The Lord will bring a nation against you from far away, from the end of the earth, as the eagle swoops down . . . "
Israel is a huge blessing to the world through knowledge of God's Law and God's Messiah, Jesus Christ. Jews and Christians are to find joy despite circumstances.
