Why are we so in need of an identity?

Nothing my eye, Something for sure
As I read the beginning of your answer, I think that we don't really know all the reasons why we think and feel in certain ways.

Probably not! I just thought that identity is essentially what a human is. I mean try to escape self and it's always there anyways.

Again, I would say so. No matter how hard I try to escape, there I am.. there are my thoughts, my memories. And my actions, although I try to do good. Myself is still with me. Romans 7 (Paul wrote it) "Miserable man that I am! Who will rescue from the body undergoing this death? Thanks to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So, then, with my mind I myself am a slave to God’s law, but with my flesh to sin’s law." So...no matter how hard I try, I am not going to (1) forget now about some of the bad things I did, and (2) I am not going to become the sweetest, kindest, most loving lovely person as in a fairytale. Now. Because...thank you for the conversation and I thank God for what Paul wrote.

And learning how to bear responsibility for the collection of moments we experience right now... and now.... and now.
Yes, well smile. Unfortunately (and thank you for your comment), some people cannot live with themselves.

True. By bearing responsibility I don’t necessarily mean ‘blame’. It’s a process of accepting accountability of actions. Blame is more about forcing guilt and shame onto others or ourselves. The former is proactive and the latter is reactive.

In general, it is difficult to live with ourselves and even more difficult to live with others. The right degree of difficulty can become a challenge leading to more healthy engagement in life. The wrong degree of difficulty can lead to detachment and defeatism.

I find life to be a balancing act between conflicting desires and interests. There may be no perfect balance, just good enough to live forward.

Spam, wonderful spam (bloody vikings!)
Why are we so obessed with having an identify?
What does it make us if we "lost"our identity? Does it change us as a person?

Its not our name i speak about, but the need of telling who we "are" or who we "are not" as a person.

I am still the person "Amanaki " even i dont identify with other then my thoughts.

Any thoughts?

What exactly do you mean by "identity" here?

Interesting that although I am not Jew by religious belief, the mosaic law had instilled deep laws regarding offending others. I respect that. But we are all imperfect. That means (and you're right), we bear responsibility for our own actions and can obviously get hurt by others too. One day, I hope, all human creation will get along in true love and peace. But that is in the future. Now we must do the best we can. Revelation 21:1-5 lets us know.

Notion of self, thinking I am, I want, I need and so on.
Identifying with the ego.

It is better for life when ego is no longer seeking attention.
Children need and want attention. Attention of a positive kind is beneficial. Bragging may not be.
