The reason Churches get such a bad rap for hypocrisy is because they don't practice Jesus' teachings

I was shocked to find so many differences between what Jesus taught in the Gospels and what Churches around the world teach today.

Here are just a few differences I found


Jesus says: Love your enemies. (Matthew 5:44)

The church says: Bomb them before they bomb us.

Jesus says: Don't pray in public like hypocrites do in church. (Matthew 6:5-6)

The churches say: If you won't 'lead in prayer' you must be ashamed of your faith.

Jesus says: Go into all the world preaching the good news. (Mark 16:15)

The churches say: Settle down and get a job, so you can pay someone else to do it.

Jesus says: Don't work for food that perishes. (John 6:27)

The churches say: John 6:27 is an isolated passage and doesn't apply to everyone.

Jesus says: Take no thought for food or clothes. (Matthew 6:25)

The churches say: It's irresponsible not to make plans for your future.

Jesus says: Sell what you have and give to the poor. (Luke 18:22)

The churches say: Jesus only said it to the rich young ruler. It's not for everyone.

Jesus says: You sell what you have and give it to the poor too! (Luke 12:33, Luke 11:41)

The churches say: I'll have to talk to my pastor about those verses. I didn't know that they existed.

Jesus says: If you don't forsake all you own, you can't be a Christian. (Luke 14:33)

The churches say: NO COMMENT (Best to ignore it and hope it goes away.)

There are very few who truly have walked the talk in any religion. Of course, we're all learning, make mistakes and have to pick ourselves up and start again. But some try and some don't. This is not new.

Abraham Lincoln said: “I have never united myself to any church because I have found difficulty in giving my assent without mental reservation to the long complicated statements of Christian doctrine which characterize their articles of belief and confessions of faith. When any church will inscribe over its altar as the sole qualification for membership the Savior's condensed statement of the substance of both law and gospel: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy mind, and love thy neighbor as thyself," that church I will join with all my heart.”

I'm not a Catholic or a Christian but do wish to follow the royal road of love. The difference between the church and those who walk the path of the Christ was to me illustrated beautifully by the scene in "Brother Sun, Sister Moon" where St. Francis met the pope. Of course, it's not history but it makes the point. And I take "poverty" to be loss of egoism not physically having no money.

Are we? The OP was talking about Christian hypocrisy and "churches around the world". They didn't specify Catholicism or Popes in particular.
During the Iraqi and Afghanistan wars, conservative leaning churches in the U.S. supported the war efforts.

What evidence do you have that "the churches say" any of the things you claim? Can you post quotations or links? Or have you just made them up?

P.S. And don't just tell me to watch some crap video.

With over 50,000 sects of christianity talking their view from their own interpretation from their particular favourite of any one of several hundred different versions of the bible what do you expect?

Also note, there is no complete original version of the bible so who is to say which of the current versions is closest to original

I don't know if he's referring to any specific church, although I have heard some televangelists and other religious right conservatives echo many of the views outlined in the OP. Particularly when it comes to supporting military adventurism and bombing people.

Possibly. But then he ought not to claim "the churches say" such and such when it is only a few fringe churches that do so.

I agree with one here:
Jesus did not say that he will die physically on the Cross to become a god.
The Church says that Jesus died on the Cross. Right, please?

given that the proclaimed leader of the sect said in the writ that many would come after they died and say "Lord, Lord", to which he said begone, I do not know you. [which indicated that this was anticipated by this fellow, that the whole organization would be corrupted by a bunch of self-deceived liars professing what their boss would deny...from his own mouth....according to the text in any case.] hmmo_O

Yes, that is right.
Jesus did not found/built any Church all his life, I understand. Church has right from the beginning, I figure, played the role of the Anti-Christ or Dajjal-the-Deviant together with Paul and Christendom-missionaries/priesthood of all the 32000+ hues and shades collectively, please.
