Jesus Said "It Is Finished"

e.r.m.

Church of Christ
But religion is supposed to have the answers. You think a loving God would punish people forever because they never had a chance to believe in Jesus? I would reject a God like that and any religion that did not have an answer.
That is your choice. It is God's universe, not ours. What God offers is good.

Acts 14:16-17 In the past, he let all nations go their own way. [17] Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”

So you truly believe that a person born 500 years ago in China who never heard the name of Jesus has no hope of salvation and will suffer in hell forever. I cannot accept a God who would do that.

You know why the Lord said to go to all the world and teach the gospel?

B/c the world was lost in sin (Isa.59:1,2).

The gospel if heard and obeyed will save souls (Rom.1:16)

There is no other way to be saved (Acts 4:12)

12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Is your name Oscar, by any chance? I know an Oscar who also mentioned China.

Happy birthday!

Good observation.

Just catching up. Thanks. 78 this year and missing the gym for two months because of the pandemic did a job on my body but it will make a comeback I am sure. As Jesus said "the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak."

Johns baptism was in water and for the forgiveness of sins (Mark 1:4).

Baptism was commanded in (Acts 2:38).
Baptism was commanded in (Acts 10:48).
Baptism was commanded in (Mark 16:15,16).
Baptism was commended in (Acts 16:30-34).
Baptism was commanded in (Acts 22:16)
Baptism was commanded in (Acts 8:5,12,13,26-40).
Baptism was commanded in (Mt.28:18-20).

Did you miss all this?

I believe I did miss that. It was new though, Sins were never forgiven by washing in the OT . They were always forgiven by sacrifice. JTB should have known that since he was the son of a Levite. Since sins could not be forgiven that way then the focus is on repentance.

Does the gospel save? (Rom.1:16)

YES / NO

Either it does or it does not.

If it does then those who do not obey the gospel will be lost.

Those who do obey the gospel will be saved.

God said - (2Thess. 1:7-9)

Those who know not God and obey not the gospel will be lost (punished).

If you want to reject this scripture you to will be one of those being punished.

Do not get caught up in emotional arguments.

Follow the truth where ever it leads you.

Jesus while in the garden knew he was about to be crucified and yet he willingly went to the cross.

WHY?

B/c Jesus always done the will of the father regardless of how it made him FEEL.

Joh 8:29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.
Was there a gospel before the time of Christ? If the gospel saves then everyone before the time of Christ is lost. Is that what you believe? Your answers are never "yes" or "no". I do not see what Jesus going willingly to the cross has to do with the fate of people who never heard of him.

If your religion teaches that God is good by torturing people who have no chance to avoid it, then that is your choice. I believe in a loving God who will offer an equal chane to be saved to every person who ever lived.

I leave those up to God. I concern myself with those who can be reached.

There is only one way to be saved. (Acts 4:l2)

I think that means there is only one religion.

(Jn 14:6) - I am the way,the truth and the life and no man cometh to the father except by me.

(Prov.14:12) - There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death

King David never heard the name Jesus. Noah never heard the name Jesus. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob never heard the name Jesus. These were great men of God but by your reasoning they are burning in never ending torture. I cannot believe that.

Actually those who would be responsible are those ancestors who long ago should have taught their children about God and His ways (Jn 6:44,45) (Jn 3:19-21) (1Jn 2:3-6). God made this world and then provided a plan for all to be saved. Sadly many reject truth (Jn 12:48). That which they reject is the only thing which has the power to save them (Jn 17:17) (Rom.1:16) (1Peter 1:22,23).

God is JUST. He is not going to save some people one way and save other people another way.

God is no respecter of persons (Rom.2:11)

The blood of Jesus went both ways on the cross (OT / NT).

Noah was saved by grace by doing all the lord commanded him (Gen.6:8,22).

The Ephesians were saved by grace by being baptized in water like the Lord commanded (Acts 19:1-6) (Mt.28:18-20) (Mark 16:16) (1Peter 3:20,21) (Gal.3:27)

OT sacrifices never could forgive sins (Heb.10:4)

Johns baptized was outdated by (Acts 19:1-6) (Luke 16:16).

NT Baptism for the remission of sins is now in effect. (Acts 2:38,47 ; 22:16) (1Peter 3:20,21) (Mark 16:15,16) (Gal.3:27) (Rom.6:3-18).(Acts 8:5,12,13,26-40)

I'm sure Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are ok.
