If you think we are created in God's image, then,,,

We are more the opposite of a creator so how are we made in God's image?
...

Bible tells God is spirit. So, we are image spiritually. And I think it means, we have similar abilities. Unfortunately, people seem to love more evil than good and use their abilities for bad.

God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
John 4:24

Faith-confidence in what we hope for (Hebrews 11)
We have evolved the knowledge to direct ourself to be better than we are. We are blinded by greed and self gain.

If you are religious then you know Jesus supposedly drank from a wooden cup, sadly most humans want a golden cup.
The Bible says humans are not designed to direct their own step. Jeremiah 10:23.
New American Standard Bible
I know, O LORD, that a man's way is not in himself, Nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps.

For the purpose of the thread, God is the creator of everything, humans however destroy, kill and pollute everything.
We pollute, destroy and kill more than any species that has ever existed on earth.
We are more the opposite of a creator so how are we made in God's image?
Do you think God is proud of what he created, that being us humans?

First, I find Adam and Eve were created without the sin defect. They were created with human perfection of heart, mind and body.
They were capable of having God's main attributes or qualities in showing love, justice, wisdom and mercy, etc.
Once they broke God's law they passed down their acquired sin defect down to us.
Since they became like a dented cookie cutter, we inherited that same acquired dent.
Those who do Not obey the Golden Rule and Jesus' New commandment about self-sacrificing love (John 13:34-35) are the ones who pollute, kill, etc.
This is why Revelation 11:18 B says that God will bring to ruin those ruining the Earth.
Through the coming 'executional words from Jesus' mouth' the wicked will be No more - Isaiah 11:3-4; Revelation 19:14-16; Psalms 92:7; 37:9-11.

Well, the God of the Bible seems to indulge in destruction and mass killings, including genocide and murder of women and children, too.
So, I am not sure what your point is.

That is a good point. Christians claim humans are made in the image of God while simultaneously claiming that human nature is innately evil and opposite of the nature of God. Makes no sense.

Thank you for mentioning all that. Especially about Jesus' self-sacrificing love. And, of course, he fulfilled the commandment to love God with one's whole being.

That's just pessimism. So we all don't live up to "the better angels of our nature" (as Abraham Lincoln put it) or our calling as Divine emissaries and so damn humanity? I don't think so. We all fail at times, but many of us are trying to fix things and shine a light in the darkness, imperfect as we are.

Well no one's perfect and all things come to an end. Yeah I think he's looking down, chilling, thinking I did a pretty good job. Or I suppose he could be thinking maybe I should've made them like aliens With green skin and looking the same and that they only needed air to live.

We see choices. And with every choice we make, we are defining who we are and who we are becoming: we are 'creating ourselves'.
I don't presume to have any idea what God "thinks" or "feels". I think we should be ashamed of ourselves, however. As nearly all of our choices have been made based on our own selfishness, and have served only to make us even more selfish.
Well we're evolving. Maybe the day will come when we will have evolved into perfection. who knows!

It could be argued that we are evolving in the wrong direction. When we lived in small clans of hunter-gatherers, everyone had to cooperate and share, to survive. Selfishness wasn't an option. To put your own well-being above that of the clan would have been both irrational, and counter-productive. But as we humans gained in understanding of our environment, and in our ability to exploit it to our own material advantage, hoarding and hedging against an unknown future became an option, and so did the idea of looking out for #1. It seems that the more we humans have, the less inclined we are to share it. To the point, now, where selfishness is a primary motive. Cooperation has turned into competition. And we have all become each other's enemy.

This doesn't strike me a positive evolution. In fact, it seems to me that the end result will inevitably be our own destruction.

Mankind alone will not be able to fix things. Please read what is in the future, as foretold in the book of Revelation, chapter 11:18 -- New Living Translation
The nations were filled with wrath, but now the time of your wrath has come. It is time to judge the dead and reward your servants the prophets, as well as your holy people, and all who fear your name, from the least to the greatest. It is time to destroy all who have caused destruction on the earth.” So we see written and foretold that the Creator will destroy all who have caused destruction on the earth.

Yes that's a possibility too.

I didn't say that. I don't think God goes around "destroying" people, either. I actually don't think Revelation should be quoted much at all since no one really knows what the hell it means.
That is what the Bible says. That scripture is clear to those with eyes and heart to get it. It's also clear to many, including atheists or agnostics, that this world is doomed.

Mankind will not, cannot, solve its own problems, many of which are caused by men themselves.

Do you think God is proud of what he created, that being us humans?

If "God" is defined by "Omniscient + Loving", then why would "God not be proud of what He created"
If "God" is defined by "Omnipotent + Love", then why would "God see this as a 'real' problem"
