So, the next will be another genre that might have been a great influence but not highly popular - Krautrock (or Experimental Music mainly from Germany) - something that was again just developing during my youth - and I have several of the albums cited.

I saw that Kraftwerk's Florian Schneider died recently.

I had a fling with Tangerine Dream, but that was about it for me.

I probably felt it was my duty then to give them a try-out, and I did prefer other music at the time, but some of those involved then did lead on to some of the music I do quite like now - for example, Klaus Schulze, Bernd Kistenmacher, Rudiger Lorenz and such.

With regards the last remark - as to leading on to some of the music I later liked - and for which I am grateful to a friend who introduced me to so much I might never have listened to, I have to post this piece which has some especial meaning for me:

I was travelling on a small yacht with two others overnight from Holyhead to Ireland (but could have been to the Isle of Man). The wind had been very light previously and we had to motor much of the way. I was on watch as dawn arose. The sea was flat mirror calm - not even a ripple and possibly the only time I've ever had such an experience. One can imagine my delight as I witnessed the sun arising from such a mirror sea - into perfect blue skies of course. And this piece of music being played (coming from the album, Wake Up In The Sun) might have made the experience so much better, if that was possible. I suppose to be fair to the others sleeping it would have been necessary to be listening on headphones but I would liked it to have blared out as loudly as possible, such was the joy I felt then. Just magical yet so simple, but no doubt few will have witnessed such. I think it only took a few minutes for the sun to fully appear so much in accordance with the music too. There was also the physical aspect - sitting in a small cockpit, a bit cold and just keeping an eye on the compass, and then to feel the warmth of the sun as it slowly appeared. :blacksunrays:

Later it got me thinking as to how easy it would be for our ancestors to assign various things to our sun, and what kind of magical properties such might be, whether rising or setting - if they too experienced such - even though the normal rising and setting might have done such too.

PS Also perhaps, some good music to be played at a cremation.

Not sure this is a genre but perhaps they deserve a slot - Street Performers - and no doubt plenty of variety available.

Not sure this is a genre either :D - Unaccompanied soloists (mostly) - but plenty to go at - and from many rather different genres:

I probably have more CDs of unaccompanied piano works than any other category so how many do you want?!

I'll post a few. Have a bit of restraint....

Go ahead. :D I probably prefer (Classical) guitar (and cello), but I'm open to all other instrumentalists, as I'm sure most others will be.

OK. :)

This is Scriabin, a man who certainly would have been at home on RF.
A recording of his Sonata number 5, performed by Marc-Andre Hamelin.
