Scripture nitpickings

Here's a small thread for those who want to nitpicking at theirs or other people's scriptures and myths. The only rule is that it mst be nitpicking, so nothing big and important, now is time to delve into the weeds and find little details that make much sense, that are a bit weird, might have been translated in a clunky fashion, etc.

Here's one of mine, Lot's wife was turned into a pillar of salt for looking at the devastation of Sodom and Gomorrah. Why did God do that, why he shy or something?

What's your tiny nitpick?

I'll have to Google which two verses, but even in two verses of Genesis early on, there were two contradictory verses which an atheist completely stumped me on when I was once trying to be a Christian.

I hope you’re able to find them, i’d really like to know.
You can find them within translations, especially between translations...but not in ancient manuscripts of the original languages.

Google Sir Frederic Kenyon, one-time director of the British Museum (1909-1931).

Okay, I'd like to correct myself. It wasn't two verses, it was two chapters and two timelines contradicting each other. So here's the challenge...

Read Genesis 1 and tell me whether man or animals came first.

Then read Genesis 2 and tell me whether man or animals came first.

OK....some have even tried to say that there were 2 separate couples here, because of this. But were there? No, just one..... Adam & Eve. Remember that Chap.2 says, “This is a history...”; so actually, it’s just a recap / summary of the events in Chap.1.
And apparently, God was still creating animals while Adam was living...... but before Eve was created.

(Side point:
There was a lot going on, on Day 6! So these were not 24-hr. days. To reason on this, read what Adam said, after Eve was created: “At last this is bone of my bone.....”!! Would he really have said that, if they both had been created within a literal 24-hr. day? No, it seems he had waited some time.)

I always considered Genesis one to just be a general overview stating that God is the creator. So it isn't meant to be taken literally. Genesis 2 would be the actual account. It would be strange that the writer would place two contradictory account and not know that there was a contradiction.

I would nitpick all the ambiguous statements and why believers choose interpretations based on their preference and say that their view is true rather than accepting that there are multiple different interpretations. I dunno if that is too general.

My actual nitpicking would be:

1) Why Abraham let Sarah pose as his sister and go with Abimelech and Pharoah. They might have done what they wanted with her. It was like he cared more about his life than being married to her. Plus it shows that he didn't have much faith in God to protect him. Then they almost get into trouble because of something they did unknowingly? Why didn't God chew out Abraham for lying to them?

2) Why send a bear to kill a couple of children just because they said a prophet was bald? Why care about something so irrelevent?

3) Why did God ask Ezekiel to make a fire out of human faecies and cook food over it?! And then why did God just give in to Ezekiel's refusal? It is like he had second thoughts.

4) Why does God regret many things or reconsider his mind if he knows everything and is all wise?

Not a nitpick but ...

Lot and his children arrived at a small village. Desperate for food they dug up some potatoes, sliced them and fried them. Sitting for there meal Lot said to the children, "i do wish your mother was here now, i can't stand fries with salt"

A nitpick or two

Genesis 32:30. I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved
John 1:18. No man hath seen God at any time

Genesis 1:24-27. Animals were created before man was created.
Genesis 2:7,19 Man was created before animals were created

Infect most of the creation stories in genesis 1 and genesis 2 are at odds

Here´s my nitpick - and it isn´t tiny at all :)
How is it that ancient creation stories are taken "just as myths" and not as real informations?

They are real information, but not about the subject of the myths, but about their authors.

The Bible is generally considered as an anthology book. There is different version to reflect the different trends and qhat was popula at the time. There might have been dozens of judaic creation stories since oral stories will always have details in conflict. When it was put down, there migh have been conflicts as to which one to use and in spirit to compromised they just put two and left it to the reader to decide.

Does the story tell it was God who did that? Or was it just the result of the sulfur and fire that was raining there?

Then Yahweh rained on Sodom and on Gomorrah sulfur and fire from Yahweh out of the sky.
Gen 19:24
