Rumsfeld in trouble

It looks like Rumsfeld is in trouble. Even members of his own party are saying they have no confidence in him and calling for his resignation. At this point, it seems likely that he will not serve out the next four years as Secretary of Defense. Do you regret this? Do you think Rumsfeld should serve the full four years? If so, why? If not, why not?

I really don't have a certian opinion but to say if he's screwing up he needs to resign...The position needs to be held by someone who has a complete understanding for defense. Our guys and gals are counting on the right decissions being made so we don't lose many more of them...it'd suit me if we pulled out of Iraq completely...we don't seem to be getting them anywhere in order to bring what they want...it's like the country is half one way and half the other...why should we (Americans) die for nothing?

I'm not politically smart so this statement wasn't intended to irritate anyone.

I think we need a secretary of defense that cares more about our soldiers. Responding to a soldier's question about why soldiers had to dig through scrap metal piles to find armor for their jeeps with "We go to war with the army we have, not the army we want," lying about the ability to produce more Humvees for soldiers... he's not cut for the job.

I couldn't agree with you more...but I have to wonder just what we aren't being told of what supplies they have. It's wrong with everything at our disposal to not supply our troops as good as it gets. Why wouldn't we? We didn't have some of the things during Vietman that we have now...so why would they be getting shorted so much stuff to do the job with? Makes me wonder what the story will be say 10 years down the road. Things get clearer after the fact...then we'll know what the real deal is...I only pray for our troops the outcome doesn't line another wall!

Many of the facts that are now coming out were mentioned by Sen. Kerry during the election but no one paid attention to him because he voted against the 87 billion dollar bill for the troops. Now Republicans as well as the Democrat?s are totally free and feel safe to express their true feelings about the war and Rumsfeld?s leadership.

Rumsfeld spent time in the Military Service but most of the other officials that were involved in the decision to go to war never spent any time in the military and wouldn?t listen to the Army brass the knew what to do and how to fight a war. The price of their stubbiness has been the lives of over 1300 young men and women.

He really needs to go.

Alot of people don't give much credibility to the comments made by Rumsfeld to the troops because they say that a reporter planted that question. I say, did they tell the crowd of soldiers to applaued the question when it was asked, so much so that Sgt. Rummy had to wait before he could respond? Or did they tell Rumsfeld to give that very uninspiring and almost insulting response?
Of course it came out later that the company that made the armor for the troops hadn't been asked to make more, even though they said that they could.
