Is the US blocking medical aid to Cuba an act of brutality?

The Cuban leadership are not the folks that will most feel the effects of the US preventing medical supplies from reaching the island.

Beyond that, it is not as if Mr. Trump cares what happens to the common people of Cuba -- just so long as he's able to reverse President Obama's policies regarding the nation.

‘CUBA has blasted the continuing US economic blockade warning of a “violation of human rights” after a shipment of vital medical aid from China was stopped from reaching the country on Tuesday.’

Read more here: US blocks medical aid to Cuba in show of ‘wild west brutality’

So my question is should the US block medical supplies to Cuba or is it just unnecessary brutality?
I wasn't familiar with Morning Star, so I looked around the internet
to see who else was covering this. Not many were.
But I found with some different (possibly illuminating) info....
Cuba: US embargo blocks coronavirus aid shipment from Asia
Excerpted.....
"Cuban officials say the cargo carrier of Colombia-based Avianca
Airlines declined to carry the aid to Cuba because its major shareholder
is a US-based company subject to the trade embargo on Cuba."

"The embargo has exceptions for food and medical aid but companies
are often afraid to carry out related financing or transportation due to
the risk of fines or prosecution under the embargo."

The fed gov is a dangerous animal. But it's not so clear that denying Cuba
the medical supplies is intentional. It seems that they need to be more
affirmative in such shipments into Cuba. Moreover, this would help
cooperative efforts between US (Roswell Park Cancer Inst in MA) & Cuban
efforts to design anti-cancer vaccines. The embargo has inhibited this
important research.

So a Colombian airline is being prevented from flying goods from China to Cuba by the USA. Who gave them the right to apply their laws to the rest of the world? The immorality of the action in this particular case shouldn't need to be stated, but the Trumpkin won't get it.

Cuba is whining about violation of human rights? Hilarious.

Cuba can change it's system if it wants aid ,fend for itself or take the risk southern flight paths.

Which means the airline is crossing US territory via Alaska and the West Coast. You do not know how Pacific flight paths work nor what an embargo is. Planes do not cross the Pacific in a direct flight line as it takes longer and is more dangerous unless the destination is in the Pacific like Hawaii.

Every source I have found including USAToday is just copying the OP source.
I posted a link with more info.
I gleaned from it that the embargo's effect on medical supplies
could be more about fed gov incompetence than intention.

I do not care to make deals with the devil for the sake of it's hostages for nothing in return.

You do not know Article 5 of the Chicago Convention. Overflying, other than by a scheduled service, is permitted.

But the block on the flight was not a refusal of passage — it was a US company preventing its Colombian subsidiary. Read the source!

Just to be clear are you saying its ok for the US to violate human rights because Cuba does?

The US didn't violate human rights. More so using human rights to whine only to turn around and ignore those very human rights later is malice by Cuba. The Cuban government can give something in return as Cuba only brings up human rights to whine.

Only applies to non-scheduled flights. It says nothing about human rights. The flight was scheduled

So? My point still stands that the US has control over it's own air space.

There's obviously a reason behind it. Either proper channels were not followed or something is going on afoot between China and Cuba that the US is not too keen on sharing publicly at the moment

Isn't the reason behind it that the US continues to enforce an embargo that has been in place since the 1960s?
