no frogs

last year i noticed a reduction in the frogs . this year ,none . some people are hearing them but not like in past years.

You are correct. There has been for at least a decade or more a worldwide die-off of the frog populations. I don't know why, but it is happening everywhere.

that is always a bad sign as to water purity
and also here as well, used to hear so many when i was young and out walking, and this chorus has diminished over the decades.

Problem is 20 + old, now it is insects.

There is a fungal disease of the skin that seems to be at least partly responsible, which apparently came originally from Korea: Chytridiomycosis - Wikipedia

helping with beekeeping here , so, doing something to help out....they had a difficult year last season, too dry, not enough nectar to support them, so they needed some feeding supplementally which is also not a good sign

They started singing earlier in March,
& serenade me on all warmer nites.
I look forward to toads too.

been that way for quite some time
this terrible bee decline
there were about 30 colonies here in the back meadow and perhaps more this season.....
the overspray from the canola and other 'modern' crops don't do them much good though,
and that 'nasty weed' [canola] is everywhere
....need to help the bees
if they go extinct, well... people are soon to follow
and i kind of like people.

still think it is worth preserving and making better [whatever that really may actually mean]

We had several hives on our school roof, with some of us teenage kids helping to look after them. Got a bee broach and some honey for our efforts but they still died off one winter.
