A lot of human suffering is caused by humans behaving badly toward each other. Not all of it, but a lot of it. Many religions propose changes in behaviors that would presumably mitigate much of this bad behavior, and the needless suffering that results. People who live in fear, anger, selfishness, and ignorance tend to make very bad decisions and engage in very negative behaviors. Most religions are an attempt at redressing these negative ideal and behaviors. Sometimes they succeed, and sometimes they fail.

Love everyone, meditate often
Often in a religious text, it says something on the line of "if you follow the rules/guidelines in this teaching, your suffering will end".
But often when listening to religious people, they are absolutely not free of suffering, what is your thought of this?
Suffering is just a mark of existence. Trying to better yourself causes suffering. If I remember correctly Buddha taught that desire can be overcome but I don't remember him ever saying that suffering itself will end completely, it's just minimized. Anatta (the non-self) manifests in multiplicity. With that multiplicity comes greed or desire from all kinds of human entities. Therefore suffering can exist even after enlightenment. We just work on ourselves as individuals.

Pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional.

Pain is nothing but a curious sensation. Its purpose is to get the person's attention that the body is under threat.
Suffering is a self-fabricated story of not coping with the pain. If one changes their mental focus on something else, often the pain and suffering ceases.

Most people still believe they are not okay. As a result, anything that threatens the 'self' will experience suffering (not coping). They have forgotten that they really are spirit, and not flesh. We have a body, but we are not the body. Much like we may have a vehicle, but we are not the vehicle. If the vehicle is in damaged (pain), those believing they are the vehicle will experience the pain, and the story of suffering with the vehicle as well.

All "pain" is not of the physical variety.
Mental and emotional pain are worse than any physical pain can be.
And unfortunately this is the kind that infects almost all of humanity today and always.

Gold is purified in the hottest flames. Your faith must be tested, to confirm that it is pure just like a hypothesis is science must be tested to ensure it is correct. If it is not it will just have to be tested again.
