I say the owner does, ultimately

Given that a forum is a for-profit business and is privately owned, the need to keep a forum commercially viable by sustained activity, increasing advertising revenue and avoiding being responsible for illegal content or activities ultimately means this is true.

I'm not saying that staff consciously and deliberately act on behalf of the site owner all the time- but there clearly are commercial and legal limits to what kind of community a forum can run and develop within those constraints.

The dark web (sites not found in search engines I believe) may be a whole different story of course.

Agree. But members can decide to go to another one if it turns into a People's Republic.

It's a cruel world.

Sadly, the People's Republic of Google may limit what you can find in your search results, if only by burying it to page 5 or 10 (by which point most of us have given up and reached for the porn or cat videos). That can have a significant effect on online traffic depending how dependent a site is on it.

I think you should be assertive and tell us precisely what you're talking about.. in detail.

Just go for it, Friend-Amanaki, we like you. Express yourself.

I am not afraid of saying what i think or have a meaning of :) I made this OP because i felt someone tried to say that they could tell me how i should behave and how i should not behave in the forum. without letting me have my own opinion of it :)

I know it sounds silly. but i know how to think for my self :p

Some things always remain a mystery.
I was once banned from this forum by means of an email, which was unsigned, that said I was banned because "two notable members" wanted me banned. No other reason given.
I could not log in to find out anything.

Some months later I received a sort of apologetic email asking me to return. This email was also unsigned.

When I did eventually return, it was because I didn't realise I had been here before and was back i nto having conversations.
I like the place, people and the mods, but will never trust whatever politics goes on behind the scenes.
A bit like living in a country you love but not the rulers.

A real apology would be appreciated, but not expected, because those 'notable members' would have to show some humility.

If it were up to me, posts that weren't spellchecked and/or contained random capitalized words mid sentence would not be allowed.

Luckily for you it isn't up to me.

If people aspiring to be spiritual, and their on a religious forum being obnoxious, and think that counts as acceptable behaviour in any environment, I'll politely tell them they are being rude...

The idea no one in the real world tells them they're being rude, and their manners suck online, disgusts me about humanity.

In my opinion. :innocent:
