The story of Joe and Hunter Biden & the Ukrainians is going to get kicked up a notch now for political intrigue.

Biden having a kid set up with a cushy job...looks bad but compared to the things Trump has done? Every time Trump mentions Ukraine, Biden should respond with 'Trump University' or 'children in cages'.
If this thread is any indication, cynicism, but I think people are generally better than this.
Well, control of the U.S. government is the ultimate game of high stakes poker. Any large-scale monied interest, both foreign and domestic, seem to be able to wangle their way in to the game. U.S. politics has been typically dominated by political machines, men in smoke-filled rooms, and other movers and shakers at the highest levels of power. A lot of corruption and dirty tricks.
I honestly don't know how much the Russians have actually interfered in the elections. However, the fact that we've allowed our political processes to become so corrupted and heavily controlled by political machines and big monied interests has made it vulnerable to this kind of thing.
The idea that the Russians can come in and essentially beat the corrupt political machines at their own game has a certain bit of ironic humor to it all. After all, we've been patting ourselves on the back for "winning" the Cold War these past 30 years, and yet, somehow they managed to stick it back to us?
As for the Ukrainians, I'm not sure about that either. I suppose any country might have a certain preference in terms of candidates in US elections. I recall previous allegations of Chinese interference in the past. There have always been warnings and concerns about foreign influence in America, and some of it may be more intensified at certain times.
Personally, I'm worried about the Andorrans. Their influence must be checked somehow, or else America will soon be an Andorran colony.

Occasionally I think about the likelihood of paranational clans. If we take these recent stories at all seriously - I mean the allegations of international election tampering in general, and the DemRep and RusUkr binaries in particular - that possibility becomes worth considering IMO. Maybe both sides have been sufficiently ‘white-anted’ , over generations.
