Runic Script Writing

So, I have been looking in to the various forms of rune writing, such as the Elder and Younger Futhark and the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, but I am having difficulty in finding information on how the script was written to form words and sentences. Were they spaced in a way similar to how we use our current alphanumeric characters (like the top line in my photo), written with connecting parallel bars (as in my middle line, and seen on runestones), or connected with a single continuous line (like the vertical line at the bottom)? I've tried a few different sources, such as omniglot and ancient scripts (.com), with minimal successes.

Rune inscriptions were not normalised like our writing. They were not punctuated, they were written right to left or left to right, could be inscribed from the bottom to the top of an object or visa versa and runic symbols could even be reversed.

I would not be too concerned about modern convention in inscribing runes. Do whatever works for you and whoever you are communicating to.

Another option are horisontal rune binds, as seen here:
