Ummmm, the natural way to think is that if we see the sun going around us, the sun is going around us.

To decide instead that actually no, we are going around the sun, at tens of thousands of miles, is not only absurd since not one person feels this happening (nor does anything inanimate), but equivalent to someone says, "Hey, I hear hooves nearby... why it must be... GIANT UNICORNS FROM SPACE!" Or maybe, it's horses. Couldn't it just be what our eyes actually see?

Please tell me you're not serious.

To a blank slate with no knowledge about pretty much anything, that idd would be the conclusion such a person would draw. A 4-year old being told that would think it's logical as well.

And you would be correct, if you were a blank slate who didn't know anything about anything, or were a 4-year old that simply didn't know any better.

But for a person older then 8 in this day and age, to think a thing like that.... Honestly, I'ld consider doing a few tests because I think it would be a sign of severe mental / intellectual disorder. To the point of being a handicap and having serious learning disabilities and an IQ so low that even independent living would be problematic.

What is calling everyone else a "FOX News Fan" the new "Nazi"? I find that amusing. Hey, whatever you think about Fox News at least they invite liberals onto their channels to speak. CNN or MSNBC is like watching someone talk to themselves for an hour. I mean liberal media is literally about 90% of the media and you guys are freaking out over the one that is not completely even conservative in presentation... It makes me laugh, it really does.. :D

Anyhow... This is all OT for the discussion so I'll stop here. But, hey, I got a laugh today. Worth it.

I'm glad you got a laugh out of it. I actually consider myself somewhat conservative but I have no patience for Trump. Interestingly you didn't mention him in your reply to me. But I wanted to write back about the Fox News bit. I mean, I did really try to watch it, and I've gone back several times since, but it is so obvious that is simply a propaganda outlet. Every now and again they have a neutral story almost as if they need something to point back to and say, "Hey, we're not JUST a propaganda rag." They invite liberals onto the show only to interrupt them all them time and maneuver them in conversation so they can try to make liberals look like confused idiots. And I say this as a conservative.

I don't mind you if you have a laugh and indeed it's quite comical in a tragic way that a man of Trump's moral fiber is President of the United States (!) The issue I have is that Fox News is spreading around things that simply aren't true, and somehow people are believing it. That you are not more alarmed about this is disturbing, and I say this as a friend, a fellow patriot, and a concerned neighbor. I don't know which way the country is going now that I know that somehow sensible people are unable to vibe out the truth or the integrity of the person speaking (on Fox News). Is it possible for you to take a breath, forget all bias for a moment, and listen to their news program and actually LOOK at the reporters? Are they rude? Are they interrupting those liberals that come on the show? Are they unbiased? Are they offering their own spin on everything? Really have a look--I'm curious what you think after giving this a sincere effort.

Regarding the Flat Earth thing, I would try to feel badly about going off topic, but really. In religious forums especially I've learned not to try once I detect that the other party is not sincere or incapable of changing their mind or understanding me. With regards to a Flat Earther, all fixed mind and understanding boxes are ticked by default.

Get in an airplane and you can see the curvature for yourself. Look at footage from the international space station. Think about the way satellites work and you'll realize the Earth MUST be spherical. Do some math, for Pete's sake. None of the math works out in the Flat Earth model. Is this really even a discussion?

The bible is consistent in its cosmology (which unsurprisingly is the cosmology of the times and places it was written).

In biblical cosmology, the earth is flat, and immovably fixed at the center of creation. The sun, moon, stars and other heavenly bodies go round it. The sky is a solid dome (the firmament) and you can walk on it. The stars are attached to it, so that if they come loose, they'll fall to earth.

>Details here<

I think we can cut them some slack back then but with all the information available now I can't see how people can think this way now.

It is only a discussion if you indulge it

The authors were up to date with their science in their place and time, indeed. Just as ours mostly are.

But the people who presently declare the earth to be flat will usually mention the bible at some point.

My experiences on the net debating creationists and the fundy view of an inerrant bible over quite a few years indicate that even they don't argue the world is flat, rather that the numerous statements to that effect in the bible mean something else.

Flat earthers, never heard of this before, well I knew people in the middle ages thought the earth was flat but not today, maybe they're like the people who say the Earth is only 6000 years old.

This is a myth in part. A majority of those educated rejected flat-earth. The masses had no education unless provided by the Church which didn't promote flat-earth. The nobility's level of education varied but outside of martial education the Church would have taught the nobility. Keep in mind during this era most administrative and education based jobs were handled by the Church not the masses nor nobility. Today those jobs are part of the middle-class.

By Church I mean it's members which would be hired as tutors, administrators, chancellors, etc. The education provided by Church is typically ignored in modern times by the masses due an uncomfortable fact that secular education is a direct result of theft by government.

Actually people in the middles ages knew the world was round as well. The whole 'flat earth' thing didn't come about until the 1800s.

Google 'parallax flat earth' for more information

Actually, it's more right out of the horses mouths. If you can name a single Democratic candidate for any position that isn't looking to take from someone else to give to some random flavor of the month "identity politic classification" I'm all ears. I view illegals as people who should never reap any benefit in our country because they're not our citizens and not our problem.

As for the censorship thing, you guys don't seem to be bothered by it because it hasn't been applied to you. But, if you're even mildly libertarian or just a bit right of center in the political spectrum your posts are either getting flagged or your traffic even to your friends is being throttled/ghosted. You'll think that's great while it's not affecting you, but if you think for a hot minute that's not going to get turned around on you -- you're sadly mistaken. It's always the haves versus the have nots and unless you are a 1% you're getting thrown under the bus too just later after they after they lock it all in, lol. I have zero tolerance for this type of activity, so I reject the Dems movement in that direction. If that makes me the bad guy here I'm fine with it, lol.

Oops...

Looks like "someone" missed their rabies treatment again!

I'm thrilled that I have not lost my empathy and compassion for my fellow man in a world so full of bigotry and hatred. You know, people like you.

I have no idea what you are ranting on about this "censorship" thing. But from your angry ranting, you might consider that your posts are getting flagged or ghosted because they contain hate speech, threats of violence, or pass on child pornography. As things like that crosses the line, in case you don't realize that.

Funny how you brought up "Nazi".

When I was a child first hearing of how Hitler came to power and of all the hatred, bigotry, and evil things he did, I could not understand how an entire country could allow him to get into power and just remove him when he went completely insane. I remember how I was glad I lived in America where such a thing could not happen. So I am HORRIFIED to see Trump (Hitler wanna be.)in the White House and the Republican (Nazi) party destroying our democracy right before my eyes.
