What Are You Going to Do About All Those "Surplus" Males?

For those of you who are fans of legalized polygamy, what are you going to do about all those "surplus" males?

As a practical matter, if one man has four wives, that means (approximately) three men will not be able to have wives. So what are you going to do about them? Anything?


By the way, here's how the fundie Mormon sects handle the problem. They run off the surplus young men. Run them out of their communities during their teen years. Of course, they have given those kids such a poor education that they can't get good paying jobs, so they usually end up working as male prostitutes in Las Vegas. At least, the kids from the Southern Utah communities. What do you make of that solution to the problem of young men not being able to find wives? Is it a good solution? One you would endorse? Do you have better?

Aren't polygamists also pro-reverse polygamy, one woman with a few men? Or maybe I'm confusing polygamy with polyamory?

Did you mean legalised polygyny, because in polygamy they can just all get married to each other

One incredibly overworked prostitute?

I actually see lots of single female friends. Single not by choice.

And I see very demanding males who won't date any woman, unless she looks like Miss Italy.

The number of alpha males is little.

Where I live polygamy is lawful activity, as is polyamory, and I would support that freedopm of choice, so....... that's me, right there in your 1st para.....

Ah...... Polygamy and polyamory is not all about legal or legitimate spouses, but even so, if a man is living with four wives then maybe those unattached wandering lone young males will have a certain place in the community, bringing satisfactions to all those lonely and unsatisfied wives?
Lord, but I wish I was young again, and living in such circumstances. I can just imagine the cards laying around with that 'lonely and got fifty quid? ..... call oldbadger!' message.

Bingo! That'd be me! I wonder how many 50 something ladies go to Las Vegas for short breaks?
If only........ That's how I met Joyful, a young man from Ghana (I think) who met with his English wife when she visited his country for a holiday. Young Black men would offer their tourist and local knowledge to the ladies as they came out of the airport, and many English ladies would keep those young men so that that didn't need to offer any more such services to any other English lady visitors. Some, like Joyful, ended up married to their Ladies and living in Bristol, UK, where I trained him in retail security services, circa 2003.

Tell me more about these friends of yours and Miss Italy. She's not married apparently. These ladies be interested in dating one guy? I better get going. I don't want to end up on the surplus pile. Or worse for me, under it. Though that may work for others. Every problem has benefits for somebody.

I doubt it's a problem. How many married men out there want to have multiple wives united telling them what to do.

Personally one wife is enough for me. I don't want 4 against one.

I should try that. Be the your guide for lady tourists from abroad. Introduce them to Missouri and to cultural experiences I make up for the occassion.

If I was as dashing and roguish in life as I am in my mind I would be truly interesting. Alas, I am plain vanilla as far as anyone knows.

I had a mate who women went mad for, but he ended up lonely ......... true.

Not going to happen... Anywhere except Utah.

Besides, there are already plenty of useless Gen Z males wondering why their Gen Z females are ignoring them and hooking up with 30+ career dudes who already have cars, houses, and can easily afford children. But, this was already happening due to dating apps, etc... I doubt ultimately it makes any difference at all re: polygamy.

Regardless, if you are having a problem finding a woman it's not because someone else snapped them all up it's because your bio looks like crap. Men with achievements / decent careers, good health, and stable households do not have problems finding women. It's a competition and if you aren't making a good showing that's why you're losing. Women are wired to prefer stability, financial security, and safety because unless they have their head screwed on backwards they eventually want children.

Personally, I think if a guy can afford 2+ women he should be able to have them. It's no one else's business....

Have you ever read Heinlein's "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". In the fictional future the moon was a penal colony with a disproportionately large number of males. The basic family was one woman and two men, but group marriages were described as the norm. Heinlein offered a number of interesting social solutions to the surplus make issue, but women ended up with greatly increased status overall in the fictional society.

I am curious as to how the one child policy of China will effect that country as males are the child of choice over females. It seems like it will be an overabundance of very spoiled males will be or is becoming the result of population stabilization policy.

It is from 1968. A bit dated, but a great story. Some of his best work.

In my country females have always been a discrete majority...so much that there is a wish to newlyweds : " Best wishes and sons"...

More wars would resolve that issue, they will probably be angry men willing to fight and the ones that survive can then have multiple women. With any luck we will also get a population reduction.
