Tennessee Senate passes legislation allowing adoption agencies to deny gay couples

Twilight Hue

Twilight, not bright nor dark, good nor bad.
If the religious deem a gay couple sinners and deny them from adopting a child, isn't that judging them and therefore the religious are guilty of committing sin too?

In first bill of the year, Tennessee Senate passes legislation allowing adoption agencies to deny gay couples

I'd rather have a gay/lesbian loving couple taking care of me than a dysfunctional and abusive hetrosexual couple.

Some adoption agencies in this country need to get their priorities straight imo.

As far as I knew, agencies like that have broad latitude to deny anybody anything.

It would be like passing a law allowing churches to deny gay couples a wedding.

Of course, I rather see adoption agencies like public service rather than private clubs. So I expect the ones with such discrimination policies to also give up tax benefits, direct or indirect.

Full disclosure:
I also support the rights of bakers to deny service whenever they want. But I expect them to post their list on the door or something. Pretending to be welcoming to the public, when you aren't, is dishonesty.

That's the thing I don't get: why would homosexuals want to give money to homophobes in exchange for begrudging, sub-par service?

In what way is keeping a kid "in the system" better than finding them a forever home amongst people who are seriously vetted and really want a child?
Tom

Because Tennessee isn't a Gay friendly state and a child growing up with a same sex couple would suffer horrendously

And its no point saying 'well they shouldn't' government deals with reality not Gay appeasement

Are you saying there are no dysfunctional and abusive gay couples?

Or???

I agree. The child of a gay couple would probably be overlooked for sports, awards and maybe even bullied.

...because of the shortsightedness of bigots.

Actually, it is likely that a child would do better with a genuinely loving couple that has faced and survived bigotry than with a couple supporting bigotry.

Is belief and accepting that marriage should be between a male and female bigotry?

And you're just ignoring child welfare

Really go to Tennessee and paint 'Gay love rules' on your car, and see how it goes down
Once again.
People blaming gay people for problems caused by homophobes.

Does the irrational and immoral nature of your objection to competent adults taking responsibility for a child not even register on you? Parents of a race different from their child's face similar problems. Do you also think that the problem is with the parents?

You're making me want to seriously break RF rules here. If my current infraction point score weren't what it is, I probably would.

Sorry I don't get what your saying. Are you claiming Tennessee is a fantastic place for children to grow up with a gay couple? Because it just sounds like your ignoring the welfare of the child to me
