if there is a means for measuring physical development in a person,

Is there a level of maturity in spiritual growth, or a way of knowing if someone is immature or mature?

One's attitude toward the Golden Rule is a litmus test, increasing ability to sort out chaff of physical life seeing working of' 'good and evil'.

Behaviour, self-control, the level of 'I' talk. No means for concrete measurement other than a keen observation.

Part of it would be to see if their beliefs are childish.
Belief in fairy tales is a sign.

It's hard to judge maturity without also being at least somewhat mature oneself.

To take a mundane example, if we say that violence is wrong, what about a person who injures a drowning man in order to stop the wild struggle so he can be saved? That to me says that simple rigid rules are not the proper yardstick.

And anyone can repeat elevated words and pretend to live their lives accordingly while at the same time doing dark deeds such as proven by all the priestly scandals.

If someone can at least partially set aside personal hopes and fears and ask the question with an deep and honest desire to know the truth without preconceived notions, then there's a possibility to know the answer.

I can state that knowledge using the ending of the movie "They Might Be Giants" "The human heart can see what's hidden to the eyes, and the heart knows things that the mind does not begin to understand."

It is not all that hard to just see what developmental
psychology shows about child development.

If a person believes in fairy tales as an adult there
is something wrong with their development.

I think every person's standards and criteria they accept as mature and immature varies by person and definitely by culture and worldview. I'm not sure if there is a universal agreement that there is or should be.

I read in Letter's to a Young Poet and liked how she said live life with questions not answers. Appreciate the questions.

Wouldn't it be weird if in RF we posted nothing but answers then when we want to critique each other's views and talk about it instead of asking questions refute instead.

"Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become "fools" so that you may become wise."
