Bible Belt hot for online porn

So, does this mean that atheists reroute their online activities through Bible belt? :D

But why don’t atheists consume it as much? Are they not interested?
Actually, I have no idea whether atheist watch more or less porn than believers. I am unaware of a single study on the subject.
I have also sometimes wondered, do people want what they watch online or from tv. There is lot of murders and brutal violence in movies and other programs. Are people watching them, because they like violence and all kind of evil? I don’t understand why for example horror movies are so popular.
No, I don't think this has much to do with the subject at hand. What entertains people has often mystified me, as well. Killing a bull cruelly for sport? Whee! (Not!)

One does not need porn as much if one is not afraid of the real thing.

I assume the most frequent porn users are teen/young adult men (that could just be my perception?), so eh, not that surprising. :p

What baffles me are the states that searched for "cartoon." I guess they have their priorities.
I guess they're working out some early childhood fantasies surrounding erotic feelings about Fred and Wilma Flintstone? I mean, they knew Pebbles didn't just come from nowhere. Fortunately because of cartoon porn, the puzzle is solved.

Here's an interesting little news item from my local conservative rag the Toronto Sun

A new study reveals that in the church-going U.S. South, consumption of online porn is higher than anywhere else in America.

In the journal Archives of Sexual Behavior, researchers discovered that U.S. states with more religious conservatives search more for hormone-charged content on Google.

And there are other surprises, as well: the Bible Belt states submit more amateur interracial porn than elsewhere, and more gay porn is consumed in those same areas.

Looks like the more something is taboo, the more people want to get at it.
All those pent up sexual urges...

All I want to do is do it!!!

Play the music Fred. ......

Not at all. The fact that in the church-going U.S. South, consumption of online porn is higher than anywhere else in America, can still be true.

In fact, here's an article that addresses this very issue.

"When it Comes to Internet Porn, the Bible Belt Craves it Most

bible-belt-map-cover.jpg

A 2014 report called Archives of Sexual Behavior, published by Canadian Universities, makes it plain that when analyzing Google traffic patterns, folks who consider themselves Christlike go looking for free sexually-related content more often than those in other regions.

Across two separate years, and controlling for demographic variables, we observed moderate-to-large positive associations between: (1) greater proportions of state-level religiosity and general web searching for sexual content and (2) greater proportions of state-level conservatism and image-specific searching for sex.
While we should be careful to assume and generalize about Christians in the Bible Belt based on this study, The Daily Beast once reported similar findings based on data from an online porn distributor. That time though, the data was focused on homemade adult content."

Even the most devout believers need to get their freak on.
Nothing wrong with that. Nay....it's good for them.
But they do it more often than less religious states. Probably because they spend an inordinate amount of time taking about sex. Usually with lots of shame being attached to it.

Maybe people who sit in the back pews in church are surfing porn sites when they get bored during sermons and saving videos for later.:D

But, in all seriousness, there's clearly an evangelical obsession with porn. The only people I know of who actually talk about porn being a "powerful addiction" similar to drug addiction are those who are religious. I do think porn can be a problem for some people though, as people look for more and more bizarre fetishes to reach the same "high" as before. But it seems as though most of these compulsive users are those who have some guilt about it to begin with.

That appears to be true, often enough, but I don't think I understand it. I like doing the things the feel good, but I've never found that being illicit made them feel any better.
I surmise that you're shameless.
Imagine the added pleasure if you were committing sin?

I have read about most of this several years ago, not the IR or gay porn though, thats new to me?

There is much more, the bible belt states are also number one for divorce rate, teenage pregnancy and sti's

The major metropolises of the Bible Belt overall also have nearly twice the homicide rate in comparison with homicide rate of major U.S. metropolises located outside the Bible Belt.

The top 20 post-Christians are ranked as follows: 1. Springfield-Holyoke, MA 2.Portland-Auburn, ME 3. Providence, RI - New Bedford, NH 4. Burlington, VT 5.. Boston, MA-Manchester, NH 6. Albany-Schenectady-Troy, NY 7. Hartford-New Haven, CT 8. Rochester NY 9.Santa Barbara-Santa Maria-San Luis Obispo CA 10 Seattle-Tacoma WA 11. Madison WI 12. Wilkes Barre-Scranton-Hazelton PA 13. Buffalo NY 14. Ft. Myers-Naples FL 15. Davenport IA-Rock Island-Moline IL 16. Tucson-Sierra Vista AZ 17. San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose CA 18. Reno NV 19. Chino-Redding CA 20. New York City NY

During 2015, there were a total combined 972 homicides in the top 20 of these post-Christian cities. http://www.city-data.com/crime/

According to the 2010 Census count, these top 20 post-Christian cities have a combined population of ca. 14.956 million persons.

972 homicides out of ca. 14.956 million persons equals a homicide rate of approximately 6.5 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants

The Most Post-Christian Cities in America: 2019 - Barna Group

According to the American Bible Society, the 20 most Bible-minded cities are : 1 Chattanooga, TN 52% 2 Birmingham / Anniston / Tuscaloosa, AL 51% 3 Roanoke / Lynchburg, VA 48% 4 Shreveport, LA 47% 5 Tri-Cities, TN 47% 6 Charlotte, NC 46% 7 Little Rock / Pine Bluff, AR 45% 8 Knoxville, TN 45% 9 Greenville / Spartanburg 44% Anderson, SC / Ashville, NC 10 Lexington, KY 44% 11 Springfield, MO 44% 12 Huntsville-Decatur-Florence, AL 42% 13 Savannah, GA 42% 14 Oklahoma City, OK 41% 15 Jackson, MS 41% 16 Nashville, TN 39% 17 Louisville, KY 39% 18 Wichita / Hutchinson, KS 39% 19 Baton Rouge, LA 38% 20 Grand Rapids / Kalamazoo / Battle Creek, MI

Reference: The Most Bible-Minded Cities in America | American Bible Society

In 2015, there were 775 homicides in the top 20 most Bible-minded cities. http://www.city-data.com/crime/

According to the 2010 Census count, these top 20 most Bible-minded cities as a group have a total combined population of ca. 6.347 million.

775 homicides out of 6.347 million inhabitants equals a homicide rate of ca. 12.2 homicides per 100,000 persons, the homicide rate of the top 20 most highly Bible-minded cities' population that are mostly in the Bible-Belt as a group is nearly twice that of the homicide rate in major U.S. metropolises that are the most highly post Christian cities being located mostly outside the Bible-Belt.

The top 20 most Bible-minded cities as a population group have nearly an 88 percent greater homicide rate than that of those top 20 most highly post Christian cities' population group.

Correlation doesn't necessarily imply causality. Crime statistics show the homicide rate is nearly twice as prevalent in the top 20 Bible-minded U.S. metropolises than that of the top 20 Post-Christian U.S. metropolises , but the reason for this may not have anything to do with religion. Differences in climate and ethnicity culture rather than religious beliefs may be the reason why the top 20 Bible-minded U.S. metropolises have nearly twice the homicide rate than that of the top 20 Post-Christian U.S. metropolises.
