What Are You Looking Forward To In 2020?

I’m looking forward to being fully fit again.
I'll never be fit if that includes being slim, but I could not care less about that anymore, because looks do not matter to me... What matters is my health and I do not have time to exercise more than two hours a day, my usual exercise regimen.
So I’m still on track for growing old disgracefully.
Me too, but I consider keeping my mind sharp just as important than keeping my body in shape.

I will still keep up the exercise regime, even after I retire, but at least I will not have to ride my bike to work in traffic, putting my life on the line daily as I have been doing. It is a miracle I am still alive.

Happy New Year! :):beercheers::blueheart::greenheart::purpleheart:

What are you most looking forward to in 2020?

Personally, I'm looking forward to starting a new herb garden my partner got me for Christmas.

I'm also eager to take a few fun trips to new places, including a cruise! :D
What do i look forward to in 2020?
That must be to let go of even more attachments and cultivating Falun Gong :)

I figured you would have an answer that was different than the rest..... you and me both. :)

For me, retirement does not mean what it means to most people, more time to travel and have fun... It means more time to continue on my spiritual path.

I am probably too detached because I do not give a rip about the material world, except for my cats, which I do not consider material.

As we age our mental fittness becomes as, if not more important than our physical fittness.
Our bodies get to where than can't preform like they used to and our brains will too. But we can keep our brains fit even when we can't keep our bodies fit.
I'm 59 years old, I weigh 209, have a 49 inch chest, 18 inch biceps, a 33 inch waist, ect so I still see myself as physically fit but it's slowing going south. I spend as much if not more time now on keeping my brain fit. We can lose some of our physical body and still be great. When we start losing our mentality, we start losing who we are. Who we are is what we are. That's my opinion.

I was going to say I think that keeping mentally fit is more important that keeping physically fit, but I changed my post. It is important to exercise because that is one thing that has been proven to affect health in old age, but new research says that it is better for women to be a little overweight than normal weight let alone thin. My mother might have lived longer if she had not been so thin. When she got very ill at the end, she had no reserves to fall back on.

You are still a young man by my standards. ;) I know many people on forums who are on their 80s and they are as sharp as ever. My mother lived to be 93 and she was just as sharp as she ever was. My husband is 10 years older than me and he has a better memory for some things, but I am under a lot more stress than he is and that affects the short term memory.

Good to see you again. :)

Yes even I still have some attachments I have found the answer to how I can detach more each day and be mostly focused on cultivation, but still live a healthy relationship with my fiancèe :) She is one I will detach to only if needed to, to gain enlightenment :)

My husband is also very detached from the material world but that causes certain problems since neither one of us is interested in keeping up the houses or cars, and we have too many of them.

I ride my kike to work past the apartments for those over 55 and I dream of living there instead of in this big house with all the cleaning and maintenance and yard work that never gets done, but alas, apartments do not take 10 cats so we are in a kind of a pickle. We no longer need a house this large though. We bought this house 10 years ago when we had 19 cats, now half the house is unused. I only wish my free will was freer so I could change some things in my life but I do not see that happening so I guess I will just have to wait for God's help... My constant mantra is "help me Jesus, help me God!" even though I am not a Christian.

It is interesting how one's surroundings can affect one's mood. My mood always picks up when I am at work in the clean and neat environment... then I come home. :( I love animals but we have so many, indoors and out, so it is impossible to keep things clean... I am just trying to be detached about it though, because there is nothing else I can do right now.

That is a tricky situation, but i am sure you will be able to find a solution and that you can have a clean and good home in the near future :)
Before I met my now fiancèe I was living in the house after my parents, and it was a very old house (build in 1924) But I was lucky to get to know a wonderful woman who comes to the coffee shop I was working a bit on, she was applying for work, but got me instead :D
So when i moved in with her i got a better home, and now the apartment we just got is even better :)
So never give up your dream of getting a better home :) it will happen one day.

She was lucky to find you and vice versa.. It's nice to have someone you feel that way about. I am lucky to have my husband but we do bicker a lot over complete nonsense and that's not fun. But once he gets over being all emotional he calms down and turns into another person... I just have to wait it out. Today he lost his shoes and you would have thought the world had ended. It is not as if we cannot afford a pair of shoes, but thankfully he found them and all was well again.

Thanks for your kind thoughts. I love older turn-of-the-century homes but not if they are too run down. A nice new shiny apartment or home would pick up my mood but the animals preclude that. I could have any home I want because we have the money, but for now I will settle for this one because it comes with the cats and I love them more than life itself, which is not saying too much since I do not love this life that much, but you get the point.

We also have the full assortment of wild animals we feed -- raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks, birds. I could not move out and abandon them because they depend upon us now. It is midnight here and my husband is out on the deck putting more food out for the raccoons and birds. He just finished giving the subdural fluids to two of our cats with kidney disease.... I have not eaten anything all day and it is midnight and finally time for dinner.... Then I will watch a little TV before drifting off to sleep... So that is our lifestyle.

Last night, my New Year's resolution to stop procrastinating...

...I woke up this morning and decided to put that off until 2021.

I am hopeful that they have beaten my husband's cancer. Charting blood tests taken every 3 months, i look forward to the graph of his PSA levels remaining flat.

Once that is sorted can maybe look forward to 2021

You dont have to do that. We have had thousands of enlightened people who had families. You can be completely detached while living a full worldly life. Those who eschewed family were exceptions Sanatkumaras, Narada, Hanuman in Hindu mythology, and Buddha, Sankara in history.
