China to rewrite the Bible and the Quran to further Sinicize religion

China to rewrite the Bible and the Quran to further Sinicize religion | Tibetan Review

China has called for a “comprehensive evaluation of the existing religious classics aiming at contents which do not conform to the progress of the times” and it has been understood to mean that the Bible and the Quran should be rewritten by “re-translation”. The order was issued during a meeting in Nov 2019, reported dailymail.co.uk Dec 24.

The order was given in November during a meeting held by the Committee for Ethnic and Religious Affairs of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, which oversees the ethnic and religious matters in China, the report said.

Why not? It's not as if there were a centralized Single World Power who oversees all possible iterations, interpretations and understandings of either of these books, is there?

I mean-- there is no real worry that a kind of Super Being would open a portal from Heaven, extend a hand, and tell them to stop, or even better-- tell them how to do it, and what either the Bible or the Quoran actually say, is there?

What with literally millions of different opinions on either book, in thousands of different and conflicting languages, written over thousands of years-- can anyone claim to have Original Source Material from either book, from any of the Original Authors? No?

What's that? For the Quoran, the original author was ... illiterate? Well, who wrote it, then?

I say to the Chinese: Have At It, Then. Why should their culture not benefit from a version of either of these books that is more fitting with their own culture, hmmm?

I mean-- look at the Bible-- European Christians had a nice Re-Write to appease King James, making all sorts of changes-- that persist to this day, "modern" versions not wishing to buck Tradition, continue with the errors and what not even so.

Again, it's not like there is a Magical Bible Authority anyone can appeal to, is there? Who would Magically Interfere to prevent a "bad" version from being printed....

The communist party in China killed millions of people from starvation. How embarrassing is that, its 1958-62... Can't report our stupid accounting is fake to the Chairman, so let millions of workers die. The Hammer is fine, the Sickle is always dumb. Do you know communism collapsed in Poland over a meeting about replacement parts for old tractors from Moscow, which never happens.

Now, wait, the Quron is a Special group... I wasn't thinking about that. In fact of course, its 600 years newer, so of course they win in Everything. Well anyway. So the Quoran always only has one version, the version with the direct ink directly from the Prophet Mohammad, in the Prophet's language, Arabic, and really, no Country is Muslim until it is a country speaking Arabic, for the Quran, true story. Western Imperialism sort of said, cut out Empires, try out nationalities, now failed states, that's cool, isn't it.

As for the Bible, if they aren't working from the Greek translation, isn't that already some obscure apocrypha, they're not trying to translate the Greek text of the Bible? The Greek text is inspired by witnesses to God whom original meanings, without interviews of the subject, must be carefully observed? Too bad all of the Greek speaking Byzantine Empire and its history is entirely a Christian History lesson, in All its value, from the Anatolian town Nicaea, or the Anatolian town of Chalcedon, to Hagia Sophia, to the Parthenon, the Acropolis.

One wonders what all the hoopla is about.
So there will be yet another version of the Bible.
So what?

You apparently have not talked to a KJOnlyist
I heard it somehow hides his homosexuality? People worry that he is rumored a private homosexual, though successfully a ruler with children and a wife, so it literally overplays against homosexuality, then all the Southern Baptist haters, news stories like that.

Well the Church of Scotland can't be too big a fan. It comes right along with the book of Common Prayer, universal Church, Episcopacy or Bishops ruling for the King in religion, why not call it English imperialism by the covering ex-ruler of Scotland.

As someone else already pointed out; it's because they're going to try to force it on Chinese Christians and Muslims. The Chinese government already heavily persecutes Christians and Muslims.

Huh?

KJOnlyists (King James Onlyists) beleive that the 1611 KJV was written by god himself.
That God himself physically took over the translators and wrote what God wanted.
That the original scrolls are to be corrected it they do not line up with the 1611 KJV

How does anyone know that this new Chinese version is not the latest and greatest update from God himself?

Wait, "Dixie-vision" is a picture of the British surrendering to the French?

And "Lincoln-vision" is way off the mark.

I think this scene from the movie Gettysburg kind of sums up the "vision" of the U.S. Civil War.

Wow Pickett's Charge scene. Yes sir! The furthest advance of the Confederacy in Pennsylvania Territory. You see, When, your forces are outnumbered greater than 2 to 1, which Robert E Lee summarized, he was too weak to defend , so he attacked, then in no amount of defensive preparation militarily could prevent this, and to relieve Virginia started a northern March in about 1862 into Maryland and then Pennsylvania. At more than 2 to 1 the only failure would be for the Union to pinpoint the position of your forces. As we can see, Robert E Lee had stated his total dismay at guerilla warfare and civil disorder, as a General, considering his surrender at Appomattox Courthouse. The hat is on the saber because that draws your attention to it.

My scene is the Christian French force's accepting the surrender of Fort Henry in the timeperiod novel "The Last Mohican". We can note how respect of warfare involves notice, surrendering colors, fair treatment, while Lincoln's treatment to have named it a rebellion throughout, that local rebels of these States weren't even the governments of those States, led to no actual Official Recognitions of Leaders of a Government, Robert E Lee's surrender then is a placeholder in people's minds whereas Jefferson Davis was run out of the country, those sort of events, and jailed.

In the "Last Mohican" a heritageless Indian "without a cross" named "Hawkeye" goes on to save Scottish daughters of a Scottish General at Fort Henry, and are savagely captured by Indians who weren't party to the English-French surrender, while most the book follows gallant rescue attempts.

I thought you were an ardent capitalist and hated the commie regime in China. The only thing that we need to concern ourselves in the West is whether China is a threat to the U.S. or the West. There have also been concerns about Russia, and there have been numerous joint military exercises with China and Russia. They seem to be getting rather buddy-buddy these days.

Personally, I don't believe that either China or Russia threaten the West at this point. I know more about Russia than I do about China, but I know that both countries have been invaded numerous times and have reasonable cause to be wary of the West. Historically, we've been far more aggressive, even if we take fewer casualties.

Capitalist, me? Absolutely!
Its what we do here in HK.
Tres amusant to be labelled
a commie apologist and a heartless
greedy capitalist.

I am no fan of Beijing. Not that they are
actually commies but whatever label it is,
it stinks.

I agree with a good percent of your post.
Dont get complacent, tho. That is the West's
biggest weakness, you are cocky.

What you don’t seem to understand is that authoritarianism does not bring stability, it seeks to eradicate natural human diversity in favour of homogeneity which naturally causes the balkanisation of people - thereby feeding civil conflict.

It is far better to live in pluralistic society which grants people natural diversity and freedom of thought within reasonable boundaries.

What you and debater suicider in particular dont
necessarily get is, I know that, and mostly agree
with you.

I just said that a strong central govt in Beijing
is seen as an urgent priority, and for good reason.

Its achieved pretty decent stability in a country thats
known precious little, a fact whether its the best way,
or any westerner thinks it smells sweet or not.

Such loss of life and "freedom" as there may have been is
what, compsred to another 70 years of invasion and
civil war?

I like living in the US tho it is not necessarily
always so free, wonderful and the envy of all
that so many Americans think.

And of course China is such a mix of things!
Its refreshing that some of you are not just
thumping the China -is -evil drum.

Because nothing good comes from antichrist communist chinese government.

You are the mirror image of the Mao era anti
American sloganeers. Except, of course,
things like "angrily denounce american capitalists
and their running dogs" does not involve any lies.
