Last week in the Houston area some would be home invaders entered a home for no good purposes. Three of them were killed by the teenage son living there who had a shotgun.

Today I hear of a shooter in Foat Wuth area. He entered a church and killed one, but was then killed by parishioners who were packing.

Praise God for the 2nd amendment. When you come to Texas, you should know that if you want to go shooting in a church, or break into someones home...the last thing you may see is a bright light...and it aint heaven.

I am so thankful to God that we have weapons of violence to praise Jesus with! If it weren't for the gift of the gunpowder charged swords that God gave us, we'd have no hope of surviving, since God doesn't come down and strike the enemies dead like he used to anymore. When you don't have a prayer in heaven, thank God for that shotgun! Praise his name! "He that takes up the gun, shall kill his enemies with it before they kill him!", Matt. 26:52

Another story out of Texas: After getting magnifying glass for Christmas, McKinney boy catches his front yard on fire

The boy's parents thought their son was going to use a magnifying glass for reading, but instead, he wanted to try and spark things on fire.

Cayden asked and received a magnifying glass.

"And Christmas morning comes along and we're opening presents and stuff, and he opens the magnifying glass and goes, 'Yay, magnifying glass,’ The other son in the background, 'Yay, now we can light stuff on fire.' And we're like, oh dear,’” Cayden’s father, Justin Parson, said.

It was a sunny Christmas Day, and the kids thought it would be fun to angle the magnifying glass toward a bit of newspaper on the porch.

"He came outside and he picked up the newspaper which had a little fire on it," Cayden said.

But it caught fire and Cayden's older brother, Ashton, didn't know what to do.

"The flame starts, so I picked up the newspaper and just kind of like throw it," Ashton said.

The fire spread.

"We ran inside and started screaming," Cayden said.

"A little while later, he comes back in, goes back out, comes back in, 'The lawn is on fire!' And we're like, ‘What?’" Cayden’s dad added.

There was a cloud of smoke within minutes.

"The smoke was getting like as high as the tree," Ashton recalled.

Well, at least nobody was hurt in this incident.

Death for breaking and entering is nothing to be proud of. Its extremely disproportionate and is based entirely in a lust for blood.

Home invasion is not the same thing as breaking and entering. When criminals crash into an occupied home you are looking at rape, or murder, or kidnapping AND theft.

Well, it is. While I think self defense is justifiable, it doesn't change the fact that a person is dead, and those that killed--even in self defense--must deal with the trauma.

Killing in self defense is no happy-fun time.
Unless they want to be the hero in their own internal Western film. The killing is an ego stroke, which is why this is such a popular power fantasy.

No need to pass up what God has given us.

Absolutely. Praise the Lord for his giving us better tools for our killing of bad people, in his name. It's Jesus' way. It's exactly what he taught the disciples as the way of peace. "Take up thy sword, and slice off that ear, Peter!," records the gospel quite clearly as Jesus's way for us to follow.

This is a problem I have with a lot of the people who carry guns--self defense appears second to the power trip they get from having it.

I was brought up around firearms, and the philosophy was "Assume if you are carrying a firearm you will use it, and the consequences of using it are dire."
