little boys and girls for Christmas?

Did the boys get things like:

1. indestructible steel American-made Tonka trucks, tractors and fire engines?
2. a new sled or toboggan in snow country?
3. a Daisy BB gun?
4. cowboy dress-up stuff?
5. Indian dress-up stuff?
6. a toy Harley-Davidson motorcycle?
7. a Lionel train?
8. a space helmet?
9. a robot?
10. a rocket ship?
11. a jet plane?

Did the girls get things like:

1. Raggedy Ann and Andy?
2. china dolls?
3. Barbie?
4. play stoves?
5. dollhouses?
6. sewing machine?
7. stuffed kitty cat?
8. Cinderella dress-up?
9. ruby slippers?
10. tea party set?
11. hope chest?
12. French telephone?

Did Santa leave a bundle of switches for naughty children?

Speaking of home towns, Lawton, Oklahoma, where I live due to personal poverty, is very depressing now at Christmas time. Very few homes are in festive lights in my neighborhood and there is virtually no holiday decor on convenience stores nor on public streets. This place, though filled with so-called Christian "churches", is gloomy and hateful of old-fashioned human fun. This town reeks of crumbling infrastructure and people who appear like homeless bums. There's a ton of new police cars around here. I can't take a walk in my neighborhood at 5 in the morning without seeing at least 5 new police cars prowling around. They can spend money on law-enforcement like there is no tomorrow. Oklahoma is a place for poor old people to come and die. I guess the "Christmas spirit" is for people with means nowadays. Material wealth makes people jolly during the season.

At this point in my life I'm just happy to still be breathing. If intelligent design truly does exist my body is one of the failed prototypes!

Happy Holidays everyone especially people who do not share my beliefs!

Santa brought me the ghost of christmas past, memories of loved one's long departed and the potential to make future memories of christmas past.

I got a DC collectible sub box from a very generous friend from the States. It wasn’t their best box to date, but my inner nerd was dancing for joy. :D

Those boy and girl lists are right out of the 1950's. And even then, my wife was not one who wanted such things.

Your wife wanted a slick shiny rocket ship instead of a rag doll?
Actually on her list was a dog and a guitar (she loves music and has made a career in various aspects of music). Having a mother who worked helped make her career minded from the start.

Keep voting for republicans, and for more tax cuts for the rich, that'll fix it.

My son got me a book I wanted, on German debt and the rise of Hitler. And I got myself a book on British cheeses - party an insurance policy on my part against Brexit. I've already read two chapters of the Hitler one. It is very interesting.

That's the great thing with books: a few pounds - or dollars - can buy a lot of satisfaction and provide talking points for ages.

I got my son a new coat, as he has grown, and a waistcoat to go with the suit he wears to school, which I know he wanted. I also got him a 4 seasons sleeping bag, as he is doing the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award thing at school and will have to go on a cold weather camping exercise in Spring.

Oh and I took a Christmas pudding and some brandy cream, made by my own fair hand, to my brother's family, for lunch yesterday.

I have to chime in with the fact that as a young girl, your girls list is largely uninteresting to me at any age. Like mate, my father grew up in the 30s and even he’d tell you to move into this century.
