The Republicans won't talk about the articles...

Been watching the Judiciary Committee on the "Markup Hearing" of Trump's potential impeachment, and one thing I have noticed -- 6 Republicans in -- is that not a single one of them actually addresses the articles of impeachment, but have focussed entirely on pointing out that the Democrats have opposed (the Republican) President since he was elected. Well, that's not a surprise, is it? Didn't the Republicans oppose Obama in exactly the same way?

So I now know how this will play forward. The House will vote to impeach, the Senate will not convict. The House will do it on the basis of the evidence before them. The Senate will do it on partisan, emotional lines, and (as religion always does) ignoring whatever evidence doesn't support their position.

The really sick thing? If Obama had done 1/10 of the things we know Dump has done?

Not only impeached-- but likely dragged out onto the White House Lawn, and strung up from a nearby tree.

We have multiple examples of photos of Republican supporters doing exactly that in effigy.

It's sad when our representatives refuse to do their actual jobs like defending the Constitution. Since when is Congress supposed to be defense attorneys for the executive branch? Senate won't even sign any bipartisan bills just creating a graveyard of potential laws. Is it too much to ask that elected officials do what they were elected to do?

Uh, no. They didn't.

Other way around. At least as far as the motives, not the actual actions.

Perhaps you should investigate the idea of the 'fruit of the poisonous tree?"

I think the rule which says you need a two-thirds vote is pretty brutal, though, to be fair. It's hard to get two-thirds of a branch of government to agree on anything.

I predict when this impeachment process moves to the Senate, team Trump will have a surprise witness, who will be Viktor Shokin. He will reveal Joe Biden had him removed from being the General Prosecutor of Ukraine, because Biden didn't want his son investigated for receiving millions of dollars from his Ukrainian boss who is suspected of embezzling millions of dollars from the Ukrainian government, which receives millions upon millions of dollars of U.S. foreign aid.

I'd like to see Joe Biden forced to testify about his role in the interference of the Ukrainian Justice System..

I am wondering what you mean by “reveal”. Do you mean this corrupt ex-prosecutor will make unfounded accusations against Joe Biden? Or do you mean he will somehow be able to prove it?

I predict there's going to be documents and witnesses supporting Viktor Shokin's claim he was fired for wanting to investigate why Biden's son received millions of dollars from the company of the guy whom the Ukrainian government suspected of embezzling millions of state-fund dollars from Ukraine, which received millions upon millions of dollars of U.S. foreign aid.

And if that does not happen, if there is no evidence at all presented to support this nonsense, will you be willing to consider the possibility that it is not true.

They got more important things to do then waste their time on a bunch of dopey socialists who think they are on a high and mighty quest of slaying the dragon.

Before we'd even consider the possibility of our P.O.T.U.S. behaving inappropriately, we should wait and see how the impeachment trial plays out in the Senate.

The very reason why impeachment proceedings are possible for the POTUS is because considerable evidence that he behaved inappropriately exists.

Nonsense. I don’t need a bunch of Republican Senators telling me what to think. Especially when the evidence is so clear, so overwhelming, and so damaging.

The partisanship of the Republican Party has crossed the line into sickness a long, long time ago.

It is quite remarkable a fact, and bodes very ill indeed for the future of the USA.
Sorry to say it, but I really do agree.

But oddly, I've seen the same thing here. Those who identify as Republican (or conservative), I've seen quite often claim they "hate liberals." I don't think I've seen many liberals return the insult.

The impeachment process becomes more meaningful in the Senate, when the President will have a chance there to clarify his motives and defend his actions of exposing Ukrainian corruption and mishandling of U.S. foreign aid; I can't wait to see team Trump expose his accusers' s dishonesty and political motivations.
