Honestly I think Trump will be the last GOP POTUS for years to come as Dems have proposed solutions that appeal to the general population while the GOP merely blocks. Compromise is dead anyways. Part of this problem is due to the two party system itself.
Trump was elected as a form of pushback from the DNC pushing identity politics as a reason to elect someone. We elected Obama and re-elected him because the Left kept screaming "You're a racist if you don't vote for him!" The Left tried the same thing with HRC(calling anyone voting for Trump a sexist) and the states away from the coasts rebelled and voted with their middle finger(Yes, I know I'm oversimplifying things.) As far as divisive, you musn't forget Obama yelling that Romney, the most milquetoast of milquetoast Republicans, was going to put people back in chains as he was putting children in cages on the border.(Yes, those photos are from the Obama administration.) The far left of the DNC seems to have lost the plot and, if anything, Trump may very well be the last POTUS, of any party, while our fragmented nation balkanizes.

EDIT: I think of him as a mouthy Gorbechev

I would place Trump @ #1 and Lincoln not even in the top ten.
He may've freed the slaves, but now the vast majority vote for the party that enslaved them anyway so it was all for naught.

Because the vast majority who enslaved them and wanted to keep them less than second class citizens became Republican.

Suuuuuuuure. That's why.

The Left tried the same thing with HRC(calling anyone voting for Trump a sexist)
That probably had less to do with the fact that Hillary was a woman and more to do with the fact that Trump is a demonstrated sexist, misogynist and womanizer who has repeatedly used his wealth and power to take advantage of women and treat them as objects.

So, y'know, maybe voting for him is a tacit approval of these things. Just saying.

I'd actually argue that Jacksonian Democrats haven't changed much in the past 180 years. They still dumb down their speech for minorities and push policies that destroy the families of those that they deem beneath them.

I've often praised President Donald J. Trump for living up to most of his promises he made to us right-wing populist American nationalists. I really like the job Donald J. Trump has done in the first three years of his public servitude as our P.O.T.U.S. I've read that many political scientists consider Abraham Lincoln to have been one of our greatest Presidents. A 53 percent majority of my fellow Republicans now consider Donald J. Trump to be a better President than was Abraham Lincoln.

I'm not sure if Donald J. Trump should be considered as being a better U.S. President than was Abraham Lincoln.

Imagines Trump as Lincoln....

“The Democrats are so corrupt. They think they can own people! They think they can own this country! They’re crooked! Russia, if your listening, I want you to release 30,000 serfs to show the democrats how its done! Russia freed the serfs and so can we! We should be more like Russia! Alexander II is a great guy! Tremendous guy! Someone we can do business with. I think we should buy Alaska. Buying Alaska would be great! Let’s make America great again!”

“The 1860 election was rigged! All the black people voted for me! It was so illegal! It was all voter fraud! But who am I kidding, I won! Thats the kind of election interference I can live with!”

“Taking away people’s slaves is socialism! SOCIALISM! its an attack on the rights of Americans! Big government must be stopped! We need to protect states rights! And we should give tax cuts to slave owners! They’re job creators! Such great jobs! The best! Everyone says so! I am going to be the greatest jobs president ever!”

“A house divided cannot stand me! Democrats are such losers! They’re seceding from the Union ‘cause I’m the greatest thing that ever happened to this country. We’re going to build a wall on our southern border and the confederates are going to pay for!”

“Did you see the crowds at Gettysburg? It was so big! It was tremendous! I’m the greatest President ever! Look at all the people dying for me? Now thats what I call leadership! We need more war crimes! Lets have more war crimes. We need to win this thing. We need to make sure that government by me, for me, but definitely not of me, does not perish from the earth! I’m tremendous!”

yeah, I voted Lincoln was better. We could really use a Lincoln right now. God bless America! You need all the help you can get!

Abraham Lincoln helped end slavery, and our Trump-led Trumped-up economy has helped their descendants become as prosperous as ever with the lowest black unemployment rate in U.S. history. Are not both of these equally great accomplishments?

Hilarious...sounds just like Trump. I agreed that Lincoln was a better president, and, while I don't love Trump, I hope he has a successful administration so that we move forward as a nation. His administration failing could mean disaster for us all.

It's weird, but having been on the far left I agree with a lot of what you've said here. The identity politics is divisive and the "vote for Clinton or your sexist" approach backfired in 2016. She was easily one of the most qualified and experienced candidates to run for office, but that also made it hard for her to campaign in an age of political insurgencies (Trump on the right, Sanders on the left).

I just wouldn't call the Democrats far left. Their isn't going to be a violent popular revolution in America any time soon. A military coup is a "maybe" depending on whether a peaceful transfer of power remains possible. But I'd call the democratic party's base pretty nuts at the moment! It's hard not to be! :D

Nope, the gap in employment between black and white hasn't change and their level of workforce participation is stable. In other words, those low unemployment stats are dopped by people leaving the workforce altogether not getting new jobs. The level of relative prosperity of afro-americans is stable and has been fairly stable for decades. Riches gap is also enlarging at a steady rate under Trump presidency. Trump is widely considered so far as one of the worst POTUS in history. Holding to your promise isn't a quality when those promises are harmful to the US population, its prestige, its long term prosperity and its stability.

The rate of work-force participation among Americans between the ages of 25 to 54 has actually increased in our Trump-led Trumped-up economy.

At this point, he is by far the worst president of the last 100 years. He really isn't suitable to be sitting at the same table that Lincoln sat at.

He wasn't exactly a president under normal circumstances. Playing nice, playing by the rules, that doesn't always work and does sometimes ends bad. Lincoln, it seems, handled necessary oversteps of power in a responsible way, having done so to preserve the Union and succeeding in doing so.

Sure, America first.
