The Hate Of Joseph's Brothers Towards Christ

Many people don't take on board that because the father gave Joseph a Coat of many Colours, the brothers hated him for being special.

Then the Jewish leaders hated Yeshua for being special, and now the same happens again...

Where people resent anyone claiming they are spiritually blessed, and so they then resent the person automatically.

When someone comes with light (Coat of many Colours), and the darkness of the Pit is received; those in darkness might resent the light for blinding the eye, yet it is the only way to come out of the shadows into the light - to then be able to see.

In my opinion. :innocent:

They hated him for being favored and for his lack of subtly as a child. Gen 37:1-8 That's my take on it.
Then the Jews hated Yeshua for being special, and now the same happens again...
OK. So then Yeshua should take the lesson of Joseph and apply it.

The thing about Joseph is... Joseph was special. I don't think anyone else would have been able to be assimilated into Egyptian culture and remain pure.

That's a talent of Gaussian proportions, if you ask me.

But moving back to Yeshua... if you look at Gen 37:8... they hated him even more for talking about his dreams **before** he was actually the viceroy to whom they would eventually bow. Maybe he wasn't supposed to share his dreams with his brothers? Maybe he was supposed to keep that to himself?

I don't know, it's a catch-22.

If Joseph **hadn't** told his brothers his dream, and what if they didn't hate him even more... and then receiving the multi-colored coat wouldn't have caused Joseph to be thrown in the pit? And then the rest of the story would never have happened? Or would it?

I don't know. It's a toughie...

The best I can offer is that the hatred was necessary. Or maybe, Joseph would have still been thrown in the pit even if he had always been demure and easy to live with as a child. So for Yeshua, maybe the hatred is unavoidable?

Thoughts?

There is no indication that the Jews hated Jesus.. People followed him to hear him speak.

The Jews of Jerusalem or some of them anyway, hated the Jews of the north who lived around Galilee and the Decapolis.. They were more prosperous and cosmopolitan … The Jerusalem Jews considered the people from the north and Samaria as Hellenized half breeds and fake Jews.

When someone comes with light (Coat of many Colours)
I need to point out the subtle shift in the story which is represented above.

Joseph didn't come with light... He wasn't born with a coat of many colors. The coat was given to him by someone else. And... the coat was left behind and shredded in the pit. The coat is not a symbol of Joseph's unique talent.

Just like I said above. Joseph was resilient and able to remain pure in spite of being assimilated. That was what made him special, not the coat. That's my vote.

And also the coat was given to Joseph, he wasn't born with it. I think Yeshua should take this lesson as well.

The coat of many color needs to be given to Yeshua. If Yeshua tries to grab it prematurely, and claim it as his own, that does not match the story of Joseph.

However, if Yeshua behaves like Jospeh did, and shares his dream prematurely, then hatred would be an expected result, right?

He told them that they would all bow to him... but he wasn't viceroy yet. Do you see the parallels?

In the first act of creation God said, "let there be Light". The apostle Paul interprets that Light to be the glorious gospel of Jesus which lightens all those who will be saved from the darkness of this world. he says, "God who commanded the light to shine out of the darkness, has shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." 2 Cor 4:6

On another level the story shows why the Law was needed, written in the Book for that bicameral type of consciousness which God wanted to rid of.

Rubbing someone's nose in something smugly is ugly.

Explaining prophetically correctly, is effectively interjecting, and thus is it automated by its author; who already knew the results of telling, would result in it automatically spreading.
So for Yeshua, maybe the hatred is unavoidable?

Hatred was expected (Isaiah 53:3, Zechariah 11:8), discipline though, should've shown a people religiously corrected.

Now though just shows people are stupid, and don't see a trap with its shiny coat of many colours putting the brothers off on purpose, as they go opposite to the Christians flocking around it (Deuteronomy 32:21).
However, if Yeshua behaves like Jospeh did, and shares his dream prematurely, then hatred would be an expected result, right?
Yeshua didn't prematurely put the prophecy out of synchronization, he said he came to be tortured as the suffering Messiah (Ben Yoseph); later Pharisaic Christianity corrupted his teachings (John, Paul, and Simon).
He told them that they would all bow to him... but he wasn't viceroy yet. Do you see the parallels?
Yes of course, yet he didn't prophesy they had to bow to him back then; he said God is just going to remove everyone who doesn't accept him for the Messianic Age (Luke 19:11-27).

Joseph's Brothers have foolishly ran ahead (H4122), not realizing the inheritance is still to come.

In my opinion. :innocent:

Agreed. I wasn't defending it. ( well that's not what I meant to do )

The point I was trying to make, is, both sides should have sympathy for each other.

Can't you see both sides of it. It makes sense for Joseph to share the dream. but it also makes sense for brothers to hate him for it.

OK. Hate is a strong word.

But remember Shimon and Reuvein? I mean. These are rough dudes. So, I hear you. Beleive me.

But what about Joseph's brothers don't they have a good reason to be a little "miffed". Not throw him in a pit "miffed". But still.

That's my point. I am sorry if it's offensive.

I'm not sure how to respond to this. The whole corrupted teachings of John, Paul, Simon thing... This isn't news for a Jewish person. We wouldn't listen to John Paul or Simon anyway.

As I've said before, if you need the Book of Luke to make your point, then you have a lot of heavy lifting to do before I accept the Book of Luke as a trusted source.
Joseph's Brothers have foolishly ran ahead (H4122), not realizing the inheritance is still to come.
And this is why I love chatting with you Zanda. I'm looking fwd to researching this ^^ idea further.

Thank you,

They still were Cain like, no brotherly love and unity, no respect for parents or each other...it was changed because of consciousness from Egypt.

Joseph was a great picture of Jesus in many many ways

God had a plan to save his brethren
and that plan even involved his brothers at first hating him, having the JO BROS virtually killing JO
not the least reason being snitching on them giving a bad report to Jacob about his brother,
the dreams, the coat, selling and hence virtually killing Jo

Jo was unjustly condemned, imprisoned then raised and seated at the right hand of Pharaoh Egyptian Gentiles were saved by God working through Jo
The Jo Bros though Jo was gone virtually history and irrelevant
but the Jo Bros and Jewish nation eventually saved

Jo told his brother regarding him being sold to slavery
"you meant it for evil but God meant it for good in preserving many people"
Like Jesus where there was a confluence of evil and good purpose by man and God

There are various pictures being painted by God.
It was also to prepare the Jews for slavery
as Jo was also a picture of God having a much bigger plan involved
despite the significant suffering of the day and a significant resurrection of the nation coming

This isn't news for a Jewish person. We wouldn't listen to John Paul or Simon anyway.
Imagine a court trial, and to be a Levite we're given an exam, that is the New Testament.

The Source created all of this to such a level, I sometimes think it is too perfect prophetically, and the Jewish people know it is made up, yet then know that can not add up.

The Jewish people without advanced study are susceptible to missing 80% of Yeshua's statements; whilst following the fake 'jesus' in their fake Pharisaic texts, which is all to be removed at Judgement Day (Isaiah 51:8).

In my opinion. :innocent:

Story of Egypt concluded with Moses carrying out all wisdom of Egypt. Implies transfer of spiritual leadership onto Sons of Israel.

And on the subject of Moses....

Just as there were about 400 years of prophetic silence of God before Moses
so it was in the 400 years before Jesus

It's just like it was planned!

Sons of Israel were in school of consciousness in Egypt, something that was also in works before Christ Jesus, creating proper conditions for the coming.

@wizanda,

Would it be OK to fast forward to the part in the story when Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers? Joseph didn't want to rule over them. And his brothers were deeply effected by this. Do you disagree? It's actually beautiful.

Fascinating, you've educated me... God Bless you.

I agree it does lead that way in Joseph's story, and there I've often pondered how the son of man is 'revealed' like Jonah, and Nineveh repented.

Fast forward to 40 years in the wilderness
all the adults die in the wilderness and only Joshua and Caleb enter the promised land and that by faith

Even Moses does not enter the promised land
underscoring you don't get there by the law but by faith
