Very nice! Actually I have been listening to that already.

I think that a lot of classics like the accordion La Vie En Rose are transcendent. Many of them are chosen to represent cultures and so doing cross over. La Vie En Rose appears in movies and shouts "French scene", and everybody seems to be familiar with its sound if not its title. With so many people familiar with it, it transcends its culture; all because it is a beautiful piece. I think what happens is it makes the listener feel like they are there, like they are in another place perhaps even imagine that they are French. Its popularity makes it a bridge perhaps.

I like the movie Amelie for the same reason. The music and environment and french quirkiness take you to Paris.

We have La Vie En Rose with Marion Cotillard in our dvd collection, re watched it on a wet Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago.

Ah, 2 old favs: the movie Amelie, and that song, La Vie En Rose, which I didn't know the name of, till now. Thanks!

There are perhaps hundreds of transcendent songs I like so much, but at the moment, though, I'm thinking of U2, so I'll post a couple. :)
