Back in the old testament.people was required to keep the seventh day Sabbath. ..
And yet, they still didn't. Exodus 16; Numbers 15; Ezekiel 20; Nehemiah 9; Isaiah 58, etc. They (as a whole people) couldn't, because they did not do it by faith:

Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

Heb_4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

Rom_9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

Rom_ 14:23 "... for whatsoever is not of faith is sin."

1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

They were attempting without faith in Christ (the Son of God), their redeemer (Exodus 20:2,6). You haven't studied Hebrews 3-4 closely and prayerfully enough.

It's seems your still stuck in the old testament of doing things.

We're not under the old testament of doing things.
But under the new testament.

This why Jesus Christ said in
Matthew 11:28--"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"

There you have Jesus Christ himself saying "I will give you rest"
Which has nothing at all to do with the seventh day Sabbath.

ISAIAH 66:22-23 [22], For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, said the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. The Israelites (/ˈɪzriəlaɪts/; Hebrew: בני ישראל‎ Bnei Yisra'el)[1] were a confederation of Iron Age Semitic-speaking tribes of the ancient Near East, who inhabited a part of Canaan during the tribal and monarchic periods.[2][3][4][5][6] According to the religious narrative of the Hebrew Bible, the Israelites' origin is traced back to the Biblical patriarchs and matriarchs Abraham and his wife Sarah, through their son Isaac and his wife Rebecca, and their son Jacob who was later called Israel, whence they derive their name, with his wives Leah and Rachel and the handmaids Zilpa and Bilhah.

Goodness seems according to your interpretation of the scriptures someone forgot to tell JESUS and all the Apostles who continued keeping the Sabbath well after the death and resurrection of JESUS. Than we have all the Apostles who continued keeping God's 4th commandment Sabbath to the end of their lives :).

giphy.gif

What did apostle Paul said about the Sabbath?
Did he really continued keeping it when Jesus Christ didn't?

Colossians 2:16-17 International Children’s Bible (ICB)
So do not let anyone make rules for you about eating and drinking or about a religious feast, a New Moon Festival, or a Sabbath day. In the past, these things were like a shadow of what was to come. But the new things that were coming are found in Christ.

Apostle Paul said things like the Sabbath day are like a shadow of what was to come.
So what you are trying to promote is just a SHADOW which lacks substance.

Now how about Apostle Peter what is the Sabbath to him?
How did he preached the Sabbath?

Hebrews 4:1-11 Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
And we still have the promise that God gave those people. That promise is that we can enter his place of rest. So we should be very careful that none of you fails to get that promise. Yes, the good news about it was told to us just as it was to them. But the message they heard did not help them. They heard it but did not accept it with faith. Only we who believe it are able to enter God’s place of rest. As God said,

“I was angry and made a promise:
‘They will never enter my place of rest.’”

But God’s work was finished from the time he made the world. Yes, somewhere in the Scriptures he talked about the seventh day of the week. He said, “So on the seventh day God rested from all his work.” But in the Scripture above God said, “They will never enter my place of rest.”

So the opportunity is still there for some to enter and enjoy God’s rest. But those who first heard the good news about it did not enter, because they did not obey. So God planned another special day. It is called “today.” He spoke about that day through David a long time later using the words we quoted before:

“If you hear God’s voice today,
don’t be stubborn.”

We know that Joshua did not lead the people into the place of rest that God promised. We know this because God spoke later about another day for rest. This shows that the seventh-day rest for God’s people is still to come. God rested after he finished his work. So everyone who enters God’s place of rest will also have rest from their own work just as God did. So let us try as hard as we can to enter God’s place of rest. We must try hard so that none of us will be lost by following the example of those who refused to obey God.

It seems that your having a hard time in staying up with the progam..
Indeed, I have slowed down and still waiting for you to catch up. ;)

Hebrews 3-4... clearly shows..that there is a rest unto the people of God..

Indeed it is the seventh day Sabbath as shown earlier in HEBREWS 4:1-11 to all those who believe and follow God's Word. No one enters into Gods' rest without entering into the Gospel rest of believing and following God's Word *Hebrews 3:19; Hebrews 4:1-5

This has nothing to do with the seventh day Sabbath. God's rest goes way beyond the seventh day Sabbath..

I see. The above are your words, then we have God's Word that disagrees with your words which are not Gods...

WHAT IS GOD'S REST IN HEBREWS 3 and HEBREWS 4?

HEBREWS 4
[1], Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into HIS REST, any of you should seem to come short of it.
[2], For to us was the gospel preached, as well as to them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
[3], For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into MY REST: ALTHOUGH THE WORKS WERE FINISHED FROM THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD.
[4], FOR HE SPOKE IN A CERTAIN PLACE (GENSIS 2:1-3) OF THE SEVENTH DAY ON THIS WISE, AND GOD DID REST THE SEVENTH DAY FROM ALL HIS WORKS.
[5], And in this place again, If they shall enter into MY REST.

KEY POINTS OF HEBREWS 4:1-5

NOTE: CONTEXT is God's REST from the SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST OF CREATION (v4-5) and those who BELIEVE and FOLLOW GOD's WORD enter into God's SABBATH REST as GOD did on the SEVENTH DAY of the week. CONTEXT is GOD's SEVENTH DAY SABBATH REST and those who believe or do not believe God's WORD and enter into that rest.

Sorry brother seems God's Word disagrees with your claims that God's rest in Hebrews 4 has nothing to do with the Sabbath. Now what did you say about God's REST not having anything to do with the Sabbath?

Back in the old testament.people was required to keep the seventh day Sabbath.

As they are in the new.

HEBREWS 4:9 [9], SO THEN IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH

But now the new testament. People are required to rest in Jesus Christ.

No one rests in Christ if they do not believe and follow God's Word. Did you not read Hebrews 3 and Hebrews 4? All those who continue in known unrepentant sin do not know God *1 JOHN 3:6-10; MATTHEW 7:22-26

It seems your stuck in the old testament of doing things..were not under the old testament but now under the new testament of doing things.

It seems you do not know what the old testament was as well as what the new testament is. God's Word does not teach lawlessness. If you continue in sin you will die *Romans 8:13. Salvation is from sin not to continue in sin *John 8:31-36. Sin (breaking anyone of God's Commandments 10 commandment) will keep all those who practice it out of God's Kingdom because those doing so reject the gift of God's dear son and count the blood of the covenant an unholy thing *HEBREWS 10:26-39; ROMANS 6:23.

You rest on a day of the week and I'll rest in Jesus Christ..

No one rests in Christ if they do not believe God's Word and continue in known unrepentant sin. Are you sure you read HEBREWS 3 and HEBREWS 4? You may want to also ready 1 JOHN 2:3-4

May you receive God's Word and be blessed.

Yaaaawwwnzzzz, there you go repeating yourself again and ignoring all the posts that show why your in error. Are you really not able to discuss the posts and the scriptures that are provided that show why your in error?o_O

For example all these posts show why your in error yet you simply just ignore God's Word and repeat yourself without addressing the content of anything posted to you...

Colossians 2:16 are you being told the truth?
is provided here; here; here; here and here. (your response is to ignore and repeat, ignore and repeat)

HEBREWS 4
Thank you. This passage only supports what I have been sharing with you. I agree the real Sabbath is shown in HEBREWS 4:1-11. This is talking a about God's REST which HEBERWS 4:1-5 defines as God's seventh day Sabbath from creation. This has already been demonstated through the scriptures in detail in post # 156 linked; post # 175 linked and post # 176 linked and elsewhere by crosstian. Please feel free to address these scriptures. They show why you are in error and may be helpful to you and also prove that God's 4th commandment is to kept by the people of God.

HEBREWS 4:9 SO THEN IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH

Thankyou now what exuse do you now have not to believe God's Word?

John 5:1-17 New International Version (NIV)
Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”

“Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”

Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”

But he replied, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’ ”

So they asked him, “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?”

The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.

Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” The man went away and told the Jewish leaders that it was Jesus who had made him well.

So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”

What Sabbath law did the cured man violate according to the Jewish leaders?

Jeremiah 17:21 New International Version (NIV)
This is what the Lord says: Be careful not to carry a load on the Sabbath day or bring it through the gates of Jerusalem.

Were they right?

CONCLUSIONS:

The Lord Jesus Christ NEVER RESTED on a Sabbath.
The Lord Jesus Christ ORDERED THE INVALID to pick up his mat and go home on a Sabbath
The Lord Jesus Christ told the man to DO SOMETHING on a Sabbath
Jesus did not violate the Sabbath or the cured man because there was no Sabbath to speak of

The Jewish leaders are pretty dumb to know that the Sabbath had been revoked 700 years ago.which is the time of the prophet Isaiah and Hosea Isaiah 1:13; Hosea 2:11

Amazing:confused: So in your view JESUS is a sinner. God help us then because in your view of the scriptures we are all lost.

I don't have a personal view about Jesus.
I know he worked on the Sabbath / hence he did not view it as a day of rest
“My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.”

I know the Jewish leaders are dumb idjits, that's for sure.
They persecuted Jesus for not observing the Sabbath.
So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him.

Luke 13:10-17 New International Version (NIV)
On a Sabbath Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues, and a woman was there who had been crippled by a spirit for eighteen years. She was bent over and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, “Woman, you are set free from your infirmity.” Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.

Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, “There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath.”

The Lord answered him, “You hypocrites! Doesn’t each of you on the Sabbath untie your ox or donkey from the stall and lead it out to give it water? Then should not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen long years, be set free on the Sabbath day from what bound her?”

When he said this, all his opponents were humiliated, but the people were delighted with all the wonderful things he was doing.

So these Jewish leaders, these synagogue leaders believe Jesus Christ SHOULD NOT WORK on the Sabbath.
These people would rather observe the Sabbath than work on the Sabbath.
These people would rather DO NOTHING than be of help
And according to Jesus Christ they are a bunch of

Your confused aren't you brother. Your interpretations of the scripture contradicts other scriptures as shown you in previous posts. You should know that God's Word does not contradict its self and if you find yourself in a position where your interpretation of the scriptures seem to contradicts other scriptures it should be a warning to you that maybe your understanding of the scriptures is not correct.

Read what God's 4th commandment says in EXODUS 20:8-11. JESUS never broke the Sabbath he upheld it and taught us how to keep the Sabbath. God's 4th commandment is about not doing our own work not God's work or doing good on the Sabbath, see MATTHEW 12:1-12.

In the days of Jesus the religious teachers of the day had placed so many man made traditions around Sabbath keeping that it had become a burden to the people. It was though in their eyes MANKIND was made for the Sabbath. It was so bad in fact that these religious teachers were constantly looking for ways to accuse Jesus of breaking the Sabbath (Matthew 12:1-2; 10; Mark 3:2; Luke 6:1-2).

Jesus rebuked these religious teachers by saying that the Sabbath was made for MAN and NOT MAN for the SABBATH *Mark 2:27 and that he was the CREATOR or LORD of the Sabbath (Mark 2:28) and it was LAWFUL to do GOOD on the SABBATH (Matthew 12:12)

Jesus did God's WORK on the Sabbath and so should we everyday but God's WORK is not the work we are commanded NOT to do on God's Sabbath for it is lawful to do GOOD on the Sabbath.

Have you not read what David did, when he was hungry, and they that were with him; How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the showbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them who were with him, but only for the priests?

Or have you not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless? Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? How much then is a man better than a sheep? Therefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

GOD'S 4TH COMMANDMENT

EXODUS 20:8-11 [8], Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY. <Why?> Because God made it Holy for mankind and commands us to keep it as a Holy day) [9], Six days shalt thou labor, and do all thy work: [10], But the SEVENTH DAY IS THE SABBATH of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: <WHY> [11], For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the SEVENTH DAY: wherefore the LORD BLESSED THE SABBATH, and HALLOWED IT.

Doing GOD'S WORK is NOT what the 4th Commandment is talking about please read it.

JESUS did not break God's 4th commandment he taught is how to keep it. If JESUS broke that Sabbath according to your interpretation than we are all lost because JESUS is no longer our prefect sacrifice for sin and simply a sinner like you and me. You do not believe that brother do you?

God's 4th Commandments says we are NOT to do OUR OWN WORK. Yep NO secular business or paid work, no unnecessary domestic work, no buying and selling, shopping. This can be done on the other days of the week. God has made the SEVENTH DAY a HOLY DAY and we are to REST in HIM by FAITH in the LORD of the SABBATH. This is the 4th Commandment and one of the God's 10.

.......................

SIN is the breaking of God's Commandments (James 2:9-11; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4)
Those who CONTINUE in UNREPENTANT SIN will NOT enter into the KINGDOM of HEAVEN.

.......................

God's 4th commandment is one of the ten (Exodus 20:8-11) If we knowingly break it when God asks us not to we stand guilty before God of committing sin (James 2:8-12). If we do not seek him in repentance and forgiveness we are in danger of the Judgement (Hebrews 10:26-27)

Sunday worship is a tradition and teaching of man that has led many to break the commandments of God. Jesus says that if we follow the traditions of man that break the commandments of God we are not following God (Matthew 15:3-9)

There is not one scripture in all of God's Word that says that God's 4th Commandment is now ABOLISHED and we are now commanded to KEEP Sunday as a Holy day.

Who should we follow the teachings and traditions of men or the Word of God? Who should we believe the Words of men or the Word of God?

In times of ignorance God winks at but now ,<when a KNOWLEDGE of the truth has come> calls all men everywhere to REPENT (FOLLOW) (Acts 17:30-31).

Jesus, in Matthew 11:28, was quoting from the OT:

Exo_33:14 And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

Context? The Ten Commandments, see Exodus 33:12-23, 34:1-9, 20:5-7. What did God give to them? Redemption by Grace (Exodus 20:2,6) through Faith, and "Rest" (Exodus 20:2,8-11).

I believe your missing something.. Jesus was not quoting from the old testament as your trying to imply he is..

Show in Exodus 33:14..as to where Jesus said---"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"

There's nothing there to indicate that Jesus quoting from the old testament as your trying to imply that Jesus is..
Nice try..but try again..

I believe ...
Yeah, this is the problem. I quoted the scripture, and you simply choose to think otherwise than what it plainly said. The "burden", and "bondage" is sin.

There are two yokes, the Yoke of Jesus Christ, and His ways, or the yoke of the devil, and his.

Those which laboured, laboured under the burden, the "laden" of several things,

[1] Sin - Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. Isaiah 1:4

There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin. Psalms 33:8

For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. Psalms 38:4

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Isaiah 58:6

For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity. Acts 8:23

Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; John 8:31

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32

They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? John 8:33

Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. John 8:34

...and because of their iniquities, corrupt men came in and ladened even further with false practices and ways to overcome sin, rules, regulations of worthlessness, which further nullified the commandments of God.

[2] Pharisaical, Lawyers, etc rules of works, traditions which negated the Law of God, and the Salvation of God, separating them from the pure and simple faith of Scripture - For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers. Matthew 23:4

And he said, Woe unto you also, ye lawyers! for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be borne, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. Luke 11:46

[3] Fear of Eternal Death, because of sin, which is transgression of His Holy, Just and Good Law - And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Hebrews 2:15

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? Romans 6:16

God/Jesus delivers from these, and gives Rest, which is the bringing us back into harmony with Himself, and His Ways and His Law, thus no longer at enmity, no longer in bondage, no longer servants of satan, but chilren of the Living God:

I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Exodus 20:2

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. Exodus 20:6

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: Exodus 20:9

But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: Exodus 20:10

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:11

For True Rest, is found in obeying God in His Law, not rebelling against Him in His Law. It is fully trusting in His saving Grace and Power to deliver from Sin/Selfishness, that we put away our own works for deliverance, put away sins, which are transgressions of His Holy Law, by that same Grace, but Rest with Him in His Rest, For He Delivers. The 7th Day Sabbath is the Sign of the Finished Work of Jesus, not only in Creation, but also in Salvation, Redemption in His death, He Rested. Who will trust and belive in His Finished Work with us?

Lucifer in Heaven, brought discord, strife and unrest when he rebelled and sinned in Heaven. And he again brought the same to our first parents, Adam/Eve. He [satan] brings the same to all who will refuse God, and refuse rest with Him [God/Jesus] in the 7th Day of His own choosing.

[4] The Burden of serving wicked Kings in rigorous bondage, because of their rebellions against God, and therefore their needs of chastizing Leviticus 26:13; Deuteronomy 28:48; Isaiah 9:4, 10:27, 14:25; Jeremiah 27:8; 1 Kings 12:11; Psalms 81:6, etc. For Israel in the time of Jesus was under the bondage of the Roman yoke, for their many transgressions.

Transgression and yoke of Bondage are linked:

For of old time I have broken thy yoke, and burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the harlot. Jeremiah 2:20

The yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up. Lamentations 1:4

The Devil is the Master Bondsman, enslaving all into sin and selfishness. He says get back to work, do not rest as God says, and do not listen to vain and idle words [of His Commandments], even as he said through Pharoah. The devil says the same through the world today... get back to work! Do not listen to God's requirements.

Yet Jesus came to set us free from the bondage of the Cruel Taskmaster, and brings us safely back into Harmony with Himself:

And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve, Isaiah 14:3

And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest. Exodus 33:14

GOD'S 4TH COMMANDMENT

EXODUS 20:8-11 [8], Remember the SABBATH DAY, to KEEP IT HOLY.

I'm sure the Pharisees would hold the Sabbath more over WORKING
I'm sure that the Sadducees would prioritize the Sabbath more over anything else.
They would say people who do not keep the Sabbath do not belong to God.
To them its the Sabbath or bust.

That is what they preach and that is what we read in the Bible.

John 9:1-16 New International Version (NIV)
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

“Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

upload_2019-11-19_21-23-21.jpeg

After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

upload_2019-11-19_21-24-21.jpeg

His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” Some claimed that he was.

Others said, “No, he only looks like him.”

But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”

“How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.

He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”

“Where is this man?” they asked him.

“I don’t know,” he said.

upload_2019-11-19_21-24-44.jpeg

They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath. Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.”

upload_2019-11-19_21-25-48.jpeg

Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”

But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided.

Q: Why side with the villains? Why imitate the Pharisees?

Baring the Cross
Some people take the side of the Pharisees and think that they kept sabbath properly according to their man-made traditions, while they think Jesus broke the sabbath they themselves imagined. Jesus instead said, that He kept the commandments, always trying to save life, and told the Pharisees that they were transgressing God's Law, and were not keeping the sabbath, as they sought to murder Jesus upon it.

Indeed, I have slowed down and still waiting for you to catch up. ;)

As they are in the new.

HEBREWS 4:9 [9], SO THEN IT REMAINS FOR THE PEOPLE OF GOD TO KEEP THE SABBATH

No one rests in Christ if they do not believe and follow God's Word. Did you not read Hebrews 3 and Hebrews 4? All those who continue in known unrepentant sin do not know God *1 JOHN 3:6-10; MATTHEW 7:22-26

No one rests in Christ if they do not believe God's Word and continue in known unrepentant sin. Are you sure you read HEBREWS 3 and HEBREWS 4? You may want to also ready 1 JOHN 2:3-4

May you receive God's Word and be blessed.

It seems your having a problem with what Jesus fulfilled..
The seventh day Sabbath was to lead Israel to Jesus Christ..
And then when Jesus Christ came..Jesus Christ fulfilled the seventh day Sabbath by keeping it himself. Which Jesus Christ brought the Seventh-Day Sabbath to it's end by for filling it himself. At his cross.

Therefore we are not bound by those things that Jesus Christ brought to it's end at his cross in the old testament/scriptures.

Maybe you should study what Jesus Christ fulfilled at his cross.
As a Christian we rest in Jesus Christ.

To the Pharisees, Sabbath is so sacred that you shouldn't work on that day.
To the Pharisees, if you work on Sabbath day - you are breaking the laws of God.
To the Pharisees, its Sabbath or bust

They are the villains when Jesus walked the earth.
And this is what the Bible says:

John 9:16 New International Version (NIV)

Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”

But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided.

The Pharisees holds the Sabbath as the most important thing and breaking it makes anyone ungodly, condemned and maybe for ...

Why would people want to imitate the Pharisees and their teachings?

Matthew 16:6-12 New International Version (NIV)
“Be careful,” Jesus said to them. “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

They discussed this among themselves and said, “It is because we didn’t bring any bread.”

Aware of their discussion, Jesus asked, “You of little faith, why are you talking among yourselves about having no bread? Do you still not understand? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? Or the seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many basketfuls you gathered? How is it you don’t understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

What is the example of the teaching of the Pharisees and the Sadducees?
Isn't it that This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”

Once again you refuse to answer questions
According to God's Word (not mine) Christ was tempted in all points like we are yet without sin *Hebrews 4:15. It he wasn't he could not be our example 1 Peter 2:21.

Your confused here brother. The ministry of death is sin because the wages of sin is death. All God's Law does is give us a knowledge of what sin is *Romans 3:20 and as Paul says is the law sin? God forbid. No, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You shall not covet *Romans 7:7.

2 Corinthians 3 is in reference to the new covenant of God's LAW being written on the heart through the Spirit by faith to love in fulfillment of Jeremiah 31:31-36 repeated by Paul in Hebrews 8:10-12. It is God's LAW written on the tables of stone that lead us to the Cross of JESUS that we can find forgiveness through faith *Galatians 3:22-25. No one is "under the law" if they have repented from their sins and have been forgiven through faith. This is the purpose of God's LAW which is to bring us to Christ. We are only "under the law" if we stand before God guilty of breaking God's Law *Romans 3:19. God's salvation is from sin (breaking God's Law - 1 John 3:4) not to continue in sin *John 8:31-36.

If you knowingly continue in sin you will die because all those who continue in known unrepentant sin reject the gift of God's dear son and count the blood of the covenant an unholy thing *Hebrews 10:26-29. Salvation is from sin that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit *Romans 8:1-4; Romans 8:13; Galatians 5:16.

Let's get this straight and talk plainly...

We are only saved by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God *EPHESIANS 2:8. OBEDIENCE to God's LAW is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD by faith that works by LOVE. Salvation is from sin (breaking any one of God’s 10 Commandments) not to continue in sin *ROMANS 6:1-23; JOHN 8:31-36. Those who continue in known unrepentant sin do not know God and need to be Born again into the NEW COVENANT promise to love *HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10. This is God's work in us and a part of the NEW COVENANT promise *HEBREWS 8:10-12; PHILIPPIANS 2:13. If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26 and our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50.

May you receive God's Word and be blessed.
Once again, you refuse to answer questions. I didn't ask you if Christ was tempted, I asked you about His nature. No matter.

Here are some clear points that summarize the facts of why the sabbath is no longer binding on Christians.
We believe the Old Testament regulations governing Sabbath observances are ceremonial, not moral, aspects of the law. As such, they are no longer in force, but have passed away along with the sacrificial system, the Levitical priesthood, and all other aspects of Moses' law that prefigured Christ. Here are the reasons we hold this view.

  1. In Colossians 2:16-17, Paul explicitly refers to the Sabbath as a shadow of Christ, which is no longer binding since the substance (Christ) has come. It is quite clear in those verses that the weekly Sabbath is in view. The phrase "a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day" refers to the annual, monthly, and weekly holy days of the Jewish calendar (cf. 1 Chronicles 23:31; 2 Chronicles 2:4; 31:3; Ezekiel 45:17; Hosea 2:11). If Paul were referring to special ceremonial dates of rest in that passage, why would he have used the word "Sabbath?" He had already mentioned the ceremonial dates when he spoke of festivals and new moons.
  2. The Sabbath was the sign to Israel of the Mosaic Covenant (Exodus 31:16-17; Ezekiel 20:12; Nehemiah 9:14). Since we are now under the New Covenant (Hebrews 8), we are no longer required to observe the sign of the Mosaic Covenant.
  3. The New Testament never commands Christians to observe the Sabbath.
  4. In our only glimpse of an early church worship service in the New Testament, the church met on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7).
  5. Nowhere in the Old Testament are the Gentile nations commanded to observe the Sabbath or condemned for failing to do so. That is certainly strange if Sabbath observance were meant to be an eternal moral principle.
  6. There is no evidence in the Bible of anyone keeping the Sabbath before the time of Moses, nor are there any commands in the Bible to keep the Sabbath before the giving of the law at Mt. Sinai.
  7. When the Apostles met at the Jerusalem council (Acts 15), they did not impose Sabbath keeping on the Gentile believers.
  8. The apostle Paul warned the Gentiles about many different sins in his epistles, but breaking the Sabbath was never one of them.
  9. In Galatians 4:10-11, Paul rebukes the Galatians for thinking God expected them to observe special days (including the Sabbath).
  10. In Romans 14:5, Paul forbids those who observe the Sabbath (these were no doubt Jewish believers) to condemn those who do not (Gentile believers).
  11. The early church fathers, from Ignatius to Augustine, taught that the Old Testament Sabbath had been abolished and that the first day of the week (Sunday) was the day when Christians should meet for worship (contrary to the claim of many seventh-day sabbatarians who claim that Sunday worship was not instituted until the fourth century).
  12. Sunday has not replaced Saturday as the Sabbath. Rather the Lord's Day is a time when believers gather to commemorate His resurrection, which occurred on the first day of the week. Every day to the believer is one of Sabbath rest, since we have ceased from our spiritual labor and are resting in the salvation of the Lord (Hebrews 4:9-11). D.A. Carson. After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

Q: Why side with the villains? Why imitate the Pharisees?

According to God's Word, JESUS says that it is only those hypocrits that teach and follow man-made teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God that are siding with the Pharisees.

MATTHEW 15:1-9
[1], Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
[2], Why do your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.
[3], But he answered and said to them, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?
[4], For God commanded, saying, Honor your father and mother: and, He that curses father or mother, let him die the death.
[5], But you say, Whoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatever you might be profited by me;
[6], And honor not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have you made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.
[7], You hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,
[8], This people draws near to me with their mouth, and honors me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.
[9], But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

How can one profess to worship God while following man-made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God when JESUS says you are not?

JESUS says "If you love me keep my commandments" *John 14:15.

Now if I through faith in God's Word and love to God choose to beleive and follow Gods' Word because I love God because he has given me a new heart to love and follow him over the teachings and traditions of men that break the commandments of God who is following God; those who believe and follow God's Word or those who do not?

According to God's Word (not mine), there is not a single scripture in all of God's Word that says God's 4th commandment has now been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day. Sunday worship is a man made teaching and tradition of men that has led many to break God's 4th commandment that is one of God's 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when it is broken *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4.

..............

Q.
Whos side are you on and why do you side with the hypocrits and follow man made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God?

May you receive God's Word and be blessed. Ignoring God's Word does not make it disappear.
