COL 2:16 And The Sabbath - Are You Being Told The Truth?

Hi Redemptionsong nice to see you again. Some comments provided for your consideration provided below...

3rdAngel, what is becoming apparent from your responses is that you have not yet escaped the bondage of the law. You sit in a half-way position between the man under law and the man under grace.

You are confused here dear brother so let me make it clear as to what I believe so you have no misunderstandings.

According to God's Word to be "under the law" means to be guilty before God of breaking the law *Romans 3:19-20. No one is "under the law" if they have through faith repented of their sins and believe God's Word to forgiveness *1 John 1:9; Proverbs 28:13; John 3:15-21; Romans 8:1-4.

We are only saved only by GRACE through faith and not of ourselves it is a gift of God and not by works lest any man should boast *EPHESIANS 2:8-9.

OBEDIENCE to God's Word is not how we are saved it is the FRUIT of God's work in us as we BELIEVE and FOLLOW his WORD *John 15:1-10 by faith *Romans 1:17.

We are all sinners in need of a Saviour and God's salvation to save us from our sins. Salvation is from sin (breaking any one of God’s 10 Commandments). According to God's Word, those who continue in known unrepentant sin do not know God and need to be Born again into the NEW COVENANT promise to love *HEBREWS 8:10-12; ROMANS 13:8-10; JOHN 3:3-8; 1 JOHN 3:3-10.

This is God's work in us and a part of the NEW COVENANT promise of a new heart to love *HEBREWS 8:10-12; PHILIPPIANS 2:13.

According to Gods' Word in the new covenant God's LAW (10 commandments) give us the knowledge of Good and Evil; Sin and Rightouesness and lead us to Christ that we might be forgiven through faith *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4; Galatians 3:22-25; Romans 3:31. God's 4th commandment is one of God's 10 comnandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken and according to God's Word if we break any one of them we stand guilty before God of sin "under the law" because we have broken the law *James 2:10-11.

If our faith has no fruit it is dead *JAMES 2:18-20; 26; Romans 3:31; Romans 8:1-4 our tree will be cast down and thrown into the fire *MATTHEW 3:10; 7:19-20; 13:49-50 and if we sin willfully after we recieve a knowledge of the truth there remains no sacrifice for sin and a fearful looking forward to of the judgment to come *HEBREWS 10:26-39.

Galatians 5:18 is very clear 'But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.' If one lives by the Spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, then one fulfils the law in love. This is the Way of all who are born-again of God's Holy Spirit.

Romans 3:28: Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Indeed as shown earlier we are not under the law if we have repented of our sins and been forgiven of them. We are only under the law if we stand before God guilty of breaking the law. Those who are born of God do not practice sin *1 JOHN 3:6-10. This is the difference between the children of God and the children of the devil.

Romans 8:1-4 [1], There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. [2], For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. [3], For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: [4], That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:13 For if you live after the flesh, you shall die: but if you through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, you shall live.

Galatians 5:16 Walk in the Spirit and you will not fullfill the lusts of the flesh

Romans 3:31 [31], Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yes, we establish the law.

May you receive God's Word and be blessed.

There is no such thing as "shadow laws" when it comes to what's in Torah.

Sure there is. I suggest you read God's Word for yourself brother. The old is fulfilled in the new. Read Colossians 2; Ephesians 2; Hebrews 7; Hebrews 8; Hebrews 9; Hebrews 10

.............

Hebrews 10:1 [1], For the law having a SHADOW OF GOOD THINGS TO COME, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Hebrews 8:5 Who serve to the example and SHADOW OF HEAVENLY THINGS, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, said he, that you make all things according to the pattern showed to you in the mount.

Colossians 2:17 [17], Which are a SHADOW OF THINGS TO COME; but the body is of Christ.

.............

May God bless you as you seek him through his Word.

Pulling verses out like that and citing them as somehow being quite distinct doesn't prove anything that's significant.

I was only showing evidence to the false claims you were making that there was no such things as shadow laws. They are Gods Word not mine and only sent in love and as a help to you.

Your response..

Soooo? This proves Sunday is "THE LORDS DAY" how?
Soooo, our discussion just came to an end as all I see you doing is playing games since I previously explained how "Lord's Day" became applied to Sunday in the 2nd century Church.

Bye.

Yep hard to argue with Gods' Word I guess when you have no scripture to support man-made teaching and tradition that breaks the commandments of God *Matthew 15:3-9. Only God's Word is true and we should believe and follow it *Romans 3:4; Acts 5:29

Arbitrarily dividing Torah up based on two words literally makes not one iota of sense. One could choose any two words and do that.

Anyhow, I have better things to do.

Let's examine your claims. How many commandments are in God's 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is when broken; 7; 9; 10 or 613? Here is a hint *Deuteronomy 10:4. This is God's Word not mine, do you believe it?

Where is the scripture that says God's 4th Commandment has been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday or the first day of the week as a Holy day?

If there is no scripture than who are we following God or man?

JESUS says all those who knowingly follow man made teachings and traditions that break the commandments of God are not following God *Matthew 15:3-9

May you receive God's Word and be blessed.

Romans 3:31 [31], Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yes, we establish the law.

May you receive God's Word and be blessed.

Romans 8:1-4 IS what it's all about! But one can only walk by the Spirit of God in grace if one has experienced the baptism in the Holy Spirit! Have you received the Holy Spirit since you believed?

Note the difference between
a) Repentance - Belief in Jesus - Grace not received (still carnally minded)
b) Repentance - Belief in Jesus - Grace received (walking by the Spirit)

In the story of Apollos, Acts 18:24-28, we find a Jew who knew his scriptures very well. He was 'instructed in the way of the Lord' (verse 25) and was able to show 'by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ' (verse 28). Yet this Messianic Jew had not received the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It was left to Aquila and Priscilla to expound 'the way of God more perfectly.'

The Word of God becomes a true blessing to those who discover that the Word is spiritual and not carnal.

Let's not forget that John the Baptist said that his baptism was with water unto repentance. He tells us to look to Jesus Christ for baptism in the Holy Spirit. This doesn't come until we are truly broken. Then we experience the fire!

Many Christians are rooted in the Gospels, unable to see that the covenant does not begin until after the testator's death! The story of the Body of Christ, the Church, does not begin until Pentecost. This is found in Acts, and the apostle responsible for explaining the Holy Spirit to Gentiles is Paul.

I say, again, it is no mistake that the word 'Sabbath' only occurs once in the epistles of Paul (Col.2:16).
It is not a mistake, either, that the word Sabbath is missing from the time of the creation to the time of the Exodus. This is because faith is counted for righteousness.

And your point to the post you are quoting from is.....? Yep you did not make one except at the very end to deny all of God's Word and the scriptures provided in the OP with only your own words that are not God's Word.

It is God's Word not mine brother which show why your claims and interpretation in regards to Colossians 2:16-17 is in error. Read it again Colossians 2:16 does not say sabbath as you claim it says sabbath[s] or sabath day *plural in application to the annual sabbaths in feast days not Gods weekly 4th commandment.

This is the reason why no one here wants to discuss the content and context provided in the scriptures provided here in this OP in regards to Colossians 2. The scriptuers provided from God's Word in this OP show those who follow man made teachings and traditions over the Word of God are in error.

We must bring everthing to the light of Gods' Word but it is true many love darkness rather than light because their deed were evil *John 3:19

If you disagree with the scriptures provided here in this OP which is God's Word not mine it is ok but if you cannot prove your claims or you cannot address the scriptures from God's Word in the OP that show why you are in error why do you not believe Gods Word?

According to God's Word not mine all those who knowingly follow the teachings and traditions of man that break the commandments of God are not following God *Matthew 15:3-9. Something to think about.

Where is the scripture in God's Word that says Gods' 4th Commandment is now abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a holy day? - There is none and if there is none why do you not believe Gods' Word?

Receive God's Word in the Spirit it was given (love) and be blessed. Ignoring it does not make it dissappear.

Maybe some questions may help the conversation.

All the shadow laws are written in the torah as part of Gods' plan of salvation for all mankind and revealed in the new covenant as shown in Colossians 2 in this OP as well as Ephesians 2; Hebrews 7; Hebrews 8; Hebrews 9 and Hebrews 10. All of these shadow laws were given to mankind as a part of God's Salvation for man after the fall when man sinned against God and after God's torah was given to man.

Perhaps these questions will show you why it is impossible for the Sabbath to be a shdow if the scriptures in the OP cannot...

1. How can the Sabbath be a shadow law when it was made before sin when man was in perfect harmony with God ?

2. How can the Sabbath be a shadow when it was a part of the finished work of creation given to man before sin and there was no plan of salvation required?

3. How can the Sabbath be a shadow when there was no shadow laws and no torah when all the shadow laws are written in the torah and the torah was not given or needed because there was no sin?

If you are honest with yourself brother in trying to answer these questions you will see that your claims and understanding of the scriptures are in error here. Be blessed and give thanks to God and receive his Word. Ignroing it does not make it dissappear.

.................

Some bonus questions

4. If the Sabbath was a shadow why did JESUS teach us how to correctly keep the Sabbath *Matthre 12:1-12?

5. Why did JESUS our example and all the apostles and disciples keep the Sabbath of God's 4th commandment even after the death and resurrection of Jesus?

6. Where is the scripture that says God's 4th Commandment has now been abolished and we are now commanded to keep Sunday as a Holy day? - There is none.

May you receive God's Word and be blessed

You do know what the Jewish law is, don't you? Well if you don't, then let me explain once again what the scriptures say concerning the Jewish law, it is not a full and faithful model of the real thing, it (The Jewish law) is only a faint outline of the good things to come. See Hebrew 10: 1.

So, the Sabbath law concerning the weekly Sabbath, is not a full and faithful model of the real thing: it is only a faint outline (A SHADOW) of the good thing to come. [The thousand years of peace under the rulership of our brother, who has been made King and High Priest.]

You have a good day now young fellow.

Yep and there is where your confusion lies...

What law is HEBREWS 10:1 talking about; God's 10 commandments that in the new covenant give us a knowledge of what sin is *Romans 3:20 or the Mosiac book of shadow laws pointing to JESUS and God's plan of salvation in the new covenant? *Hint *Hebrews 10:1-7?

May you receive God's Word and correction and be blessed.

.............

Let me ask you the questions again that you chose to ignore from the previous post
...

Your claims to God's Sabbath as being a shadow law when there was no sin when the Sabbath was made has no basis in truth and is not biblical as shown through the scriptures in the OP. The origin of when the Sabbath was made for mankind also proves that it is impossible for God's Sabbath to be a shadow of anything as there was no sin and no shadow laws because there was no sin when the Sabbath was made for mankind. Now dear brother, be blessed, these are Gods' Word not mine and they disagree with you. Receive this correction in the spirit it has been given (love) and receive Gods' Word and be blessed.

I make no claim that the weekly Sabbath law is a 'Shadow law,' for the only shadow law is in the minds of those who do not have the ability to comprehend the Holy Scriptures. I simply claim that the bible is true and reliable, in stating that the Jewish law is not a full and faithful model of the real thing: it is only a faint outline *A SHADOW) of the good things to come.

Revealing that Paul's statement in Col 2: 16; That the weekly Sabbath was but a faint outline (A SHADOW) of the reality in our future, which reality is the thousand years of peace under the rulership of our brother Jesus, who has been made our King and High priest as in the order of Melchizedek.

Now don't you overtax your brain in your attempt to justify your erroneous beliefs, just sit back and relax for a while. Have a good one mate

Your problem and error lies in that you do not know the purpose and difference between God's eternal law that in the new covenant that gives us the knowledge of good and evil; Sin and Righteousness *Romans 3:20; Romans 7:7; 1 John 3:4 with the shadow laws that are fulfuilled in JESUS and God's plan of salvation in the new covenant.

According to God's Word (not mine) God's 4th commandment is one of Gods 10 commandments that give us the knowledge of what sin is and that if we break any one of God's 10 Commandments we stand guilty before God of sin *James 2:10-11.

On the other hand the Mosaic book of shadow laws that point to JESUS and God's plan of salvation in the new covenant for remission of sins as shown to you in HEBREWS 10 show that these shadows are fulfilled in JESUS and God's plan of salvation in the new covenant *HEBREWS 10:1-19.

You are confused in Shadow laws brother with God's eternal law that give us the knowledge of what sin is *Romans 3:20.

May you receive God's Word and be blessed.

Now as posted through the scriptures earlier and shown through God's Word alone in the OP and the questions asked of you, God's Word alone shows why you who are in error brother but you deny God's Word with yours and do not believe it. So your argument is with God not me. I do not judge you and you are free to believe and do as you wish as we are all only held accountable to God come judgment day and must work out our own salvation through fear and trembling, but ignoring God's Word does not make it dissappear. It will be our judge come judgment day *John 12:47-48. You have no excuse for not believing the scriptures that are shared with you which are Gods not mine.
