Should Bernie Sanders be holding a political office

Given his own statement , since he's on record as saying a person with a typical classic Christian views should not hold any office or be appointed to any government position, namely the classic views of the Evangelical and scholarly institution Wheaton College.

Or should he at least apologize for his bad judgement? How can he even govern (in his own view) such people.

No, but not because of that. He's too old and recently had a heart attack. Politicians should be required to retire at a certain age. Time for new faces and ideas.

Article VI of the U.S. Constitution states that “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.”

If you get screened out of a job opportunity because you've been ****ty to other people, this isn't a "religious test."

Not even if the reason you were ****ty to other people was your religion.

And being screened out of a government job for (in a private paper) agreeing with a quote by Jesus in a chapter central to the New Testament is???????? see John 3:18

Bernie was sadly mistaken

And of course such a litmus test is unconstitutional

clearly believing a quote central to the Christian faith and a direct quote of Jesus should hardly make someone unfit for office

And quite a few people in the US are fond of John 3

see Wiki
The Heisman-winning American football player Tim Tebow printed this reference (among other Bible verses) on his eye black, notably during the 2009 BCS championship.[12] Exactly three years later on January 8, 2012, was the game that would become known as "The 3:16 game", where Tebow threw for 316 yards in a playoff upset against the Pittsburgh Steelers; a game in which measurements of 3, 16 and 31.6 were also noted, "John 3 16" became the top Google search in the US.

in the end it is Jesus who Bernie was offended by as it was a John 3:18 direct quote of Jesus he took issue with
Bernie Sanders disagrees with Jesus

That is not what he did. So your complaint is without grounds.

Actually he did and the Atlantic made a good case explaining why.
An apology is in order and a censor from other Democrats against Bernie.

In the end Vought privately agreed with a direct quote of Jesus from John 3. And that makes him unfit for any office in government and any appointment according tothe words of Bernie...

that's sad

Sadder still... no Democrat willing to man up and tell Bernie he was wrong to do that

The candidate was a jerk and he used his religion as an excuse. Sorry, that is a fail. You don't get to be a flaming a-hole and then blame your God.

Hmmm , I don't see any exclusion of Muslims there. You are free to believe that if you wish. But to say that because your myth says this that others are condemned is going too far. Those people did not make that mistake, your boy did.

Believing a quotation from Jesus is hardly cause to exclude you from office
and in fact such an religious exclusion is a violation of article VI of the constitution which Bernie would 'claim' to uphold

You may not see an exclusion but there is as Muslims don't even call God father as Jesus did in the verse Helen Keller quoted. In fact Jesus called God Father in the vast majority of His prayers.

First off it is not a quotation of Jesus. No one knows what Jesus really said. It is a quotation of the Bible, that is not the same thing. Second, one can believe whatever one wants. But if one acts like a jerk one does not get to blame the Bible. That is what that candidate did. If anything you should be mad at the candidate, not at Bernie. You should be able to understand this.

What are "typical classic Christian" views when there are more than 1,200 denominations?

Let me respond to your edited post too.

Once again, it is not what he believed. It is how he applied what he believed. He acted like a jerk and blamed the Bible.

He was not excluded for his beliefs. He was excluded for his actions.

Classical beliefs would be beliefs that virtually all the denomiations would have agreed with for 2000 years

Now perhaps Bernie is not aware of Muslim beliefs... for example as the American Thinker points out
For denying that God is government and that salvation comes from the state, Vought probably comes off to intolerant Sanders as a political heretic. Meanwhile, despite the Quran (3:56) saying, "As to those who reject faith, I will punish them with terrible agony in this world and in the Hereafter," Bernie continues to support Minnesota Muslim Congressman Keith Ellison to head the DNC.

When you're a communist that's the only religion allowed. But, who said he's smart -- just because people are dumb enough to vote you in doesn't mean you're useful. For a guy with so much hype he doesn't have very many accomplishments to his name. I hope he hangs up his hat -- time to retire to the crusty old commie paradise he's looking for. If we're lucky he'll die by the elections, so it won't matter.
