I've seen some really well done ones. At one temple in Toronto, there was one of a scene, and it was done with whole grains of rice, not powder, which made it particularly artistic. For non-Hindus reading, Rangoli is an art form where colored flour, grains of rice, or flowers are used to make a temporary design, usually on the floor. At first sight, it looks like any ordinary picture.

Very nice, except these are not made with any food item but with an inedible grainy powder.
The smaller rice-flour rangolis can be found today in front of some homes in South India. Everywhere else it is the inedible rangoli powder.
