Refuting the Christian Rationalizations of God Sending People to Hell

Thief

we end up alongside others like ourselves

could be heaven

could be hell

but how else to be happy?
how else to be fair?

Whenever someone brings up the fact that a being who sends people to hell must be a moral monster, the typical response by Christians is something along the lines of "God gives people a choice to accept his offer of salvation or not, and God is just giving those who don't accept his offer what they want by not saving them since they never asked to be saved." However, this rationalization fails miserably and still makes the Christian god out to be a monster. For an analogy, consider a parent who is watching their child swim in a lake and can see that the child is drowning. Now suppose that the child does not ask to be saved or even outright rejects the parent's offers for help, and says "I don't need you, I can save myself!" Would a loving and benevolent parent who KNEW the child could not save themself sit back, watch the child drown and say "Fine. I won't save you because you rejected my offer" or would the parent save the child anyway? The parent who lets the child drown simply because the child rejected the offer for help is of course evil, and if this scenario happened in real life, we would immediately demand that the parent face prison time. Yet when Christians imagine their god doing the same thing, they call him "loving", "fair", and "just." Pretty ironic, isn't it?
The scripture says they are not His children. As it says in the parable of the tares among the wheat. the owner of the field speaking of the tares sown among the wheat says "An enemy has done this".

Yes, so is an infinite punishment for a finite crime.

What's interesting is, not even humans think like that. Most prisoners most likely get out one time or another. That would be something to throw someone in prison for life or the death penalty because he stole a candy bar from a dollar store. (since all sins are equal)

Is there anything sadder than Atheists who hang around religious forums?
Yes. People who thinks that atheists shouldn't hang around religious forums because they do not like it when their beliefs are being challenged and can't come up with anything to support it. It's sad that someone is ignorant about religious atheists and nonreligious theists. It's sad that someone thinks atheists shouldn't debate about religion in the religious debate section of a religious forum.

So again, the answer to your question is, yes, there are sadder things.

God gives people choices. If someone ends up being punished it is because that person made the wrong choice. God is not to blame when a person is punished, the person is to blame
Nobody chooses hell and whos to choose who makes a wrong choice and what the right God is? Christians say they'res is but theres no proof, why no Allah the Muslim God?

Because Jews Christians and Muslims all follow the same God

Most of us were Christian at one time. We tend to know the Bible better than current Christians.

With 2 billion Christians, it is easy to compare yourself with those who know less. It doesn't mean you are right because there are those who know the Bible more than you and I and say it is true.

Religiousness may be defined : very devoted and faithful (merriam-webster)

from Greek atheos "without god, denying the gods; abandoned of the gods; godless, ungodly," from a- "without" (see a- (3)) + theos "a god" (from PIE root *dhes-, forming words for religious concepts).

An atheist holds on to the position and are devoted and faithful to the position that there is no God but have no proof that it is so. Their faith, to which they religiously hold onto, is that there is no God yet have no proof that they are right.

Thus a religious atheist

Exactly. God is already supposedly forcing a
person to pick between only two choices,
heaven/hell.

Quite.

"Your honour, I can't be guilty of murder! I allowed that woman to exercise her free will, either she marries me or she gets shot in the head. The decision was entirely her own and I can in no way be held responsible."

You are absolutely, one hundred percent correct. As a Fundamental Christian, I can attest to that fact.

A loving God sending people to an eternity of torments is completely psychotic at minimum.

Yet... it's not Biblical. Not even close. It's a complete fabrication. One of the biggest lies ever told.

Here is the answer to the biggest contradiction taught in the history of all religions...

Are you ready?

Reincarnation.

That's it.

Reincarnation explains everything and is completely Biblical no matter how much your average Christian hems, haws, screams, yells, curses etc.

If the Church were to teach this again, as it did a long time ago, Christianity would flourish.

Interesting video. Thanks for posting it.

But you're not talking about children. You saying God should force salvation, despite the will of person in question
So, are you saying you would also let a peer of yours (an adult, the same age as you) drown if they didn't ask for, or refused your help?

In other words... think before you post.

I'm afraid that most of your beef with Christianity is based on a false version that someone, even a preacher (fundamentalists have a great deal to answer for) presented you.

I don't even believe in Hell, at least not as you see it.

Hell, strictly speaking, is not fire or torture, or strictly speaking, but rather a simple separation from God. And I've felt this before, without having died. But it's an illusion. Romans 8 assures us that nothing can separate us from the love of God. And it cannot be anything more than an illusion.

My friend, convinced that her life was horrible, probably killed herself (being online and in Germany, I have no way of knowing), but yet I will never stop being worried for her. If I can be worried for her, surely God with the power of life and death, understands her pain and has a solution. So, no, Hell if it exists, is somewhere you send yourself not God sending you, and you do it by wanting to punish yourself.

Nor is the purpose of Christianity to be a good person so you can get into Heaven. Heaven is simply the state of being close to God. In actual fact, the core teaching of Protestantism is that you cannot earn Heaven, it's given to you at God's whim. So anyone who told you that you have to work hard and change who you are is lying to you. You have to love yourself, in order to love others. That's it.

If that is the saddest thing you can think of then you definitely need to get out more. Sheesh. And you'd better not be one of those theists who claims that the world is getting worse and worse all the time if THAT is the saddest thing you could possibly contemplate. I could come up with a list, many thousands of items long, of things that I find to be far more sad than that, both historically, contemporarily and hypothetically. An atheist hanging around religious forums may as well be "bliss" compared to some of the saddest things I have heard of. And if this is really the saddest thing you can think of, then you must be one generally happy guy. Seriously.

In other words, once again... think before you post.
