Lucid dreaming is caused by an altered state of consciousness. It has nothing to do with religion or spirituality but can be hijacked by some to lead people in a wrong direction.

Like hypnosis, no one really knows what causes it or how the brain is manipulated in this way. Believe me when I tell you, that the devil will use any opportunity to lead people away from God...often using things that appear to be harmless.

The loudest voices of the lucid dreaming movement cite pleasure, power, and fulfilling fantasies as among the benefits of becoming more aware in our dreams. Unfortunately this popular expression has added fuel to the smoldering and historic distrust of dreams by many contemporary Christians, who are told that dreams can only be temptations of the Devil. However, lucid dreaming also has a modern development in Christian spirituality that is largely unknown but growing in influence.

My religion in part is based on glowing trees and people... I call it lucidity. We achieve this through belief in life.

I don't think its is sinful in itself but it can lead people down the wrong track if they attribute something spiritual to it.

Any altered state of consciousness can leave an opening for the demons. They are opportunists so will take advantage any time they get an opportunity. Like hypnotism, no one really knows where it comes from and because one loses one's inhibitions, its best not to purposely or consciously open oneself up to outside unconscious influences. So, in our view, lucid dreaming is something to steer clear of if you are tempted to deliberately enter this altered state. But for those who enter that state involuntarily, IMO it would pay to see it as something of an aberration and leave it alone.

I have a grandson who goes into lucid dreaming when he is running a high fever. His mother calms him by talking him through them.....sometimes they terrify him. He doesn't always remember them.

All lucid dreaming is, is being aware you are dreaming when you are. It is perfectly natural and anyone can do it, regardless of religion or even if they are not religious.

I agree. Lucid dreaming is an interesting experience because it blurs the line between waking and dreaming states. Possibly it tells us something about consciousness having different "levels", but I don't view lucid dreaming as an inherently "religious" experience.
